Trey Songz was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 24, after yet another physical altercation with a police officer.
The “Slow Motion” star was watching the Kansas City Chiefs play the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium when he was heckled by some fans sitting several rows behind him.
When Trey asked them to stop heckling him for not wearing a mask, he was approached by an officer, who – according to witnesses – “went after him, without warning”.
“Trey was totally caught off guard when the officer got physical with him, and the singer started to defend himself,” a witness told TMZ.com.
A video of the incident shows Trey and the officer struggling, before the troubled rapper punched the policeman in the head, and put him in a headlock. The officer then pinned Trey to a seat, with fans shouting at him to get off the musician until back-up arrived.
Once additional officers arrived, they separated Trey and the officer, and slapped the 36-year-old father-of-one in handcuffs.
According to TMZ, Trey was arrested for the misdemeanors of trespassing and resisting arrest, and the felony of assaulting a police officer. He’s on a 24-hour hold, and is due to be released on Monday night.
Trey was previously arrested in December 2016, following a performance at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. He was charged with felony assault of a police officer and misdemeanor aggravated assault for injuring a photographer.
Trey pleaded guilty in August 2017 to two reduced counts of disturbing the peace, and was sentenced to 18 months of probation, substance screening and anger-management classes.
