Kraft premiered a new ice cream flavor just in time for National Macaroni & Cheese Day (July 14). The brand teamed up with Brooklyn-based Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to develop the new creamy macaroni & cheese ice cream flavor.
“We know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream,” said Kraft in a press release.
“That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with.”
The limited-edition ice cream is available online on Van Leeuwen’s website and in the brand’s stores across the country while supplies last starting July 14 at 11 a.m.
The new sweet confection isn’t cheap. A pint costs $12, but New Yorkers can taste the new flavor for free between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. at an ice cream truck in Union Square.
By 12 noon Twitter users complained that the website kept crashing.
It sounds like the new macaroni & cheese flavor is a success.
