Deion Sanders checked a white reporter for getting too personal and calling him “Deion”.
Sanders, head coach at Jackson State, walked out of a Southwestern Athletic Conference media day event on Tuesday after reporter Nick Suss of The Clarion-Ledger called him “Deion”.
The 53-year-old NFL legend told Suss that Alabama coach Nick Saban does not like to be referred to by his first name.
“Hold on, you don’t call Nick Saban ‘Nick’, don’t call me Deion… Treat me like Nick.”
When the reporter insisted on calling Sanders by his first name, he walked out of the interview.
In a tweet, Sanders called The Clarion-Ledger “FOOLISH” for Suss’ disrespectful conduct.
“This is how all of this started, I really Pray for all of us because this was something so minimal that was hilarious to me that you allowed a FOOLISH media outlet and person to play on your Preconceived notions. I’m all about Peace, Love, Work, Commitment, Sacrifice & Forgiveness.”

The Florida State standout played for 14 seasons as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens.
He was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
