Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X and Justin Bieber were the big winners at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, Sept. 12.
Lil Nas X took home the night’s biggest honor at the MTV Music Awards, held at the Barclays Center in New York City.
The openly ghey rapper won Video of the Year for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, which also landed the Best Visual Effects trophy.
Bieber won Song of the Year and Artist of the Year. Wearing a black hoodie and oversized double breasted jacket, Bieber said:
“As we all know, there’s a lot going on in the world. With COVID, we are living in unprecedented times. Music is a fantastic way to bring people together. We’re all here at the same time.”
Olivia Rodrigo was a triple winner, collecting trophies for Song of the Year and Best New Artist, while Bieber picked up Artist of the Year and Best Pop.

Other winners include Machine Gun Kelly (pictured with girlfriend, Megan Fox), Global Icon Award winners Foo Fighters, ceremony host Doja Cat, Busta Rhymes, and Twenty One Pilots.
BTS were also among the multiple winners, picking up awards for Best Group, Best K-Pop and Song of the Summer (“Butter”), and Billie Eilish, who shared the Best Latin honor with her “Lo Vas A Olvidar” collaborator Rosalia and the Video For Good prize for “Your Power.”
