Whoopi Goldberg was shocked when she tested positive for Covid-19 despite being vaccinated and boosted (3 shots) against the coronavirus.
Whoopi, 66, told viewers she contracted Covid-19 during her holiday break from “The View,” according to Page Six.
“I left a couple of weeks ago, just before the break, because somebody I had been around tested positive for coronavirus, so I left,” Whoopi told her co-hosts via Zoom on Wednesday. She wore a black shirt with the words “Over It” on the front.
Whoopi was surprised at her positive results because she was triple vaccinated and she had been careful.
“I was all excited and, you know, they have to test us, and so they sent people to test me, and they tested me, and it was like, ‘Oh no, you’re not coming back. We’re not sending anybody to your house. You have corona.’ And it was like, ‘Wait, what?'”
Millions of vaccinated Americans are similarly surprised when their COVID results come back positive.
Whoopi told her co-anchors she did everything she was supposed to do, yet she still caught the virus.
“But that’s the thing about the Omicron, you just don’t know where it is. You don’t know where it is, who’s got it, who’s passing it. It’s one of those things where you think, ‘I’ve done everything I was supposed to do.'”
Whoopi said the pandemic won’t end until everyone is vaccinated. She also spread misinformation about the coronavirus, saying it “gets stronger” with every mutation.
“Yeah, it doesn’t stop Omicron, and that’s the problem with a variant, because it gets stronger and does different stuff to you. So, you know, unless everybody gets vaccinated, this is what we’re going to be facing for the next, you know, little while.”
In unrelated news, “Today” anchor Hoda Kotb, who is also fully vaccinated and boosted, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. She is isolating at home for 5 days.
On Wednesday, Kotb, 57, thanked her fans for their support.
“Thx for well wishes! Feeling good.. [heart emoji] cant wait to see you all when I am in the clear! Xo,” the mom of two tweeted.
