A former Bibb County, Georgia deputy was arrested after he broke into the home of the late Super Bowl champion Demaryius Thomas.
Police say Vashone Hakeem Jones, 29, broke into Thomas’ Roswell, Ga. home to throw a party, rather than rent one of the many Airbnb party homes available in the Atlanta area.
Thomas, a four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver with the Denver Broncos, died on December 9, 2021. He was 33.

Roswell police were called to Thomas’ Riverside Road home on March 13, according to a report obtained by Channel 2 Action News and WGXA-TV.
Thomas’ mother, Katina Smith, told police that the house was vacant and the locks had been changed shortly after Thomas died.
Smith said she saw social media posts showing a party at her late son’s empty residence.
Pictures sent to Smith’s cell phone by her son’s friends showed people partying in the house.
According to Channel 2 Action News, when police arrived, they watched an Uber driver make a food delivery. A man who answered the door refused to give them any information.
Officers entered the home and found seven people on the main floor and two more people asleep in the master bedroom.
One of the people awakened by cops in the master bedroom was identified as Jones, who resigned from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office after he was charged with credit card theft and card fraud in 2019.
The woman who was in bed with Jones said she met him the night before at the Gold Room nightclub in Atlanta, and he invited her back to the house to party.
Police also found drugs and guns inside the home.
Jones told officers that he previously lived at the home and helped Thomas with his medical issues.
Jones and two other people in the home were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. Jones was released on $2,000 bond.
According to Smith, expensive football memorabilia were stolen from the home, including an ESPY award, football jerseys including one signed by quarterback Tom Brady, guns, a hyperbaric chamber and thousands of dollars in cash.
