DJ Will has apologized for shouting out Nicki Minaj while Cardi B and Offset were in the club.
The DJ upset Cardi B by shouting out Nicki Minaj at a New York City nightclub on Wednesday, May 11.
Cardi grabbed the microphone to address the DJ, who quickly played Cardi’s single “WAP.”
“Who’s in the building tonight? ‘Cause we want all the f—— smoke, ya heard?” said Cardi. Then she issued a subtle warning to the DJ.
“We getting dangerous tonight? We getting dangerous tonight? DJ are we getting f—— dangerous tonight? Big Brim in the building, Big Brim in the building, Big Brim in the building. F— outta here!”
“Big Brim” is a reference to the 59 Brims street gang in NYC. 59 Brims are affiliated with the national Bloods street gang.
Cardi later said she was “set up” by the DJ, who took the high road and apologized on Thursday.
“I’m reading so many stories and narratives about things that happened and didn’t happen and I just want to clear the air,” he said in a statement.
“I never meant any disrespect to Cardi B, Offset, their family, friends, or fans in any way, shape, or form. It was an honest mistake and I feel horrible about it.
“I accept my responsibility for what happened and send my heartfelt apologies to Cardi B and Offset. I meant no malice, it was definitely no set up, I was simply there to rock the party, which is what I do.”
