Actor and comedian Leslie Jordan had no pulse or respirations when first responders assessed him after his car crash in Hollywood on Monday.
Jordan apparently suffered a cardiac disturbance behind the wheel of his BMW before crashing into the side of a building.
A passerby called 9-1-1 after witnessing the crash. Los Angeles Fire Department officials found no signs of life when they assessed the 67-year-old actor.
He was cut from his seat belt and removed from his vehicle to commence CPR and defibrillate his heart. Paramedics worked on Jordan for more than 40 minutes before he was pronounced at 9:38 AM.
The actor was on his way to the set of “Call Me Kat” when he lost consciousness and died before the crash. He is pictured in April in West Hollywood.
LAFD Captain Erik Scott confirmed to Fox News Digital that an adult male was “pulseless and non-breathing.” He added, “LAFD responders quickly freed him from his seat belt and removed him from the vehicle to commence CPR and defibrillation, which continued with advanced life support measures by LAFD Paramedics for more than 40 minutes.”
The “Will and Grace” star had complained about shortness of breath in the weeks before his death.
Sources tell TMZ that Jordan was so concerned about his heart that he’d actually scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist.
It’s not known if the cardiologist discovered any issues with his heart or prescribed heart medication.
According to TMZ, investigators believe he suffered a cardiac arrest or heart attack while driving.
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing while at rest or upon exertion may be warning signs of a heart attack.
