George Floyd’s brother has backed off on threats to sue Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and his advisor, Candace Owens.

Attorney S. Lee Merritt — who represents Philonise Floyd — tells TMZ, Philonise is temporarily backing off from his threat to bring a lawsuit against Ye for saying George died from a fentanyl overdose, not a knee on his neck.

Philonise also threatened to sue Candace Owens, but he backed off after Candace expressed her intention to file a lawsuit of her own against the family during Wednesday’s episode of The Candace Owens Podcast.

The conservative commentator defended her and Ye’s statements as freedom of speech — which used to be protected under the U.S. Constitution.

“I’m also sick of frivolous lawsuits,” she said. “You know, if this is actually considered credible, if you can sue somebody because you’re feeling emotionally distressed because of them going out and saying things, well then I think that I have grounds to sue George Floyd’s estate.”

She continued: “I have grounds to sue George Floyd’s family for doing this little PR stunt. It’s causing me a ton of distress. I feel angry, and I feel upset with the fact that I am fighting for Black America to be freed from the lies while these people are fighting to keep them in the dark!”

If Candace follows through on her threat to sue George’s family, it could cost them millions in legal fees and keep them tied up in court for years.
