Wendy Williams‘ son Kevin Hunter, Jr. wrote an emotional letter to the judge handling his eviction from a $2 million Miami apartment.
Kevin Jr., 22, was hit with an eviction notice in August after he fell behind $70,000 in back rent.
According to the US Sun, a copy of Kevin Jr’s lease shows Wendy paid a security deposit and a full year of rent in advance — more than $100,000 — in 2021.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Kevin Jr. was sued for eviction by a company named Cermae LLC.
Kevin’s lease expired in February but he agreed to continue paying monthly rent. He told the judge he signed his mother’s name on the lease because she was having health problems.
“At her request, I signed the original lease on her behalf,” he claimed.
The former talk show host hasn’t spoken to her son since leaving a California rehab in October.
Tenants in the process of being evicted are often encouraged to write letters to the judge to buy themselves more time.
RadarOnline.com reported that Kevin did just that by writing an emotional letter to the court explaining his dire financial situation.
In his letter to the court, Kevin Jr. wrote, “As the lease approached the end, my mom went through some health issues that put the court in control of her finances.”
Kevin Jr. told the court he is a full-time student at Florida International University in Miami, and he was forced to drop out of school for a year to take care of his mom.
He added: “All of this happened suddenly and all of the financial support that she always gave me stopped, including my housing.”
But friends say Kevin Jr. took advantage of his mother, who didn’t intend for her college age son to live lavishly on her dime in a $2 million apartment. The rent for a comparable apartment in that building is nearly $10,000 a month.
Wendy, 58, reportedly cut Kevin Jr. off financially amid reports that he drained her bank accounts to finance his lavish lifestyle in Miami.
Wells Fargo Bank froze her accounts in January amid suspicions that she was being financially exploited, and suffered from dementia. A judge appointed a guardian to protect her finances.
After her accounts were frozen, Kevin Jr.’s bills began to pile up. Apparently, he and his father, Kevin Hunter, Sr., don’t have jobs to support themselves. Kevin Sr. is also hurting for money.
Kevin Sr. is asking a judge to force his ex-wife to catch up on his monthly alimony payments.
In court documents obtained by The Sun, Kevin, 50, complained that he hasn’t received an alimony check in over a year.
Wendy’s lawyers argue that she hasn’t had a main source of income since she lost her $10 million annual salary from “The Wendy Williams Show” when she was fired in October of last year.
Wendy’s attorneys say since she has no source of income anywhere near the $10 million she was earning on her show, it would be unreasonable for her to continue supporting Kevin Sr. and his other family.
