A British student union group’s plan to promote domestic violence against women may have backfired. Members of the Cambridge University Student Union Women’s Campaign affixed stickers to Chris Brown’s fifth studio album, Fortune, at a HMV store in England. The stickers read: “WARNING: Do not buy this album! This man beats women.”
The domestic abuse statement stems from Brown’s conviction for felony assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
But the worldwide news coverage of the British student group’s protest resulted in increased sales for Brown’s Fortune CDs in Europe, MSN reports.
“They got their point across pretty effectively,” a spokesman for the U.K.-based retailer said. “With widespread coverage around the world, though, quite a few people now know there’s a new Chris Brown album out.”
This is good news for Brown, 23. His Fortune CD is a big hit with college students and young people on both sides of the pond.

Kanye West Splashes Out $1 Million for Kim Kardashian’s Birthday
Kanye West is sparing no expense for Kim Kardashian’s 32nd birthday and set aside a whopping $1 million to make sure all her birthday wishes come true.
KIM KARDASHIAN can never accuse boyfriend Kanye West of being tight.
The US rapper has set aside $1million — that’s £615,000 — for the reality TV star’s 32nd birthday celebrations next month.
Kanye has also been in regular contact with Kim’s family over the past few weeks to ensure that his party plans go down a treat.
A source said: “Kim has been really down about turning 32 and having two failed marriages behind her and no children, so he wants to make this extra-special.
“Plus it’s her first birthday since they’ve been together as a couple.
“Kanye has never been shy of splashing out on the women he loves, but this time he’s pulling out all the stops with presents.”
