Update: Wendy Williams’ manager says she is in an alcohol treatment facility “doing her best to be her best.”
Will Selby denied accusations made by Wendy’s son, Kevin Hunter Jr., in an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun.
Kevin claimed his mother’s caretakers are taking advantage of her wealth, fame, and inability to make sound decisions as she suffers from Graves’ disease and chronic alcoholism.
However, Will Selby tells ET, “Wendy is at a facility doing her best to be her best. She’s taking it day by day.”
Selby says Wendy has been in and out of rehab facilities over the years.
“And that’s another thing, too, does anybody even ask like, ‘How’s she doing?’ Does anyone even care? I feel like everyone just puts out negative information about her and that’s the focus. Why don’t we just stop for a moment and just say, ‘Hey, how is she? Is she doing OK today?’ Why is that not the focus? Why isn’t that what we’re talking about on a daily basis?”
Kevin, 22, blames her team for her downward spiral, he said in his first-ever interview.
“I know there are all sorts of things happening that I know in her right mind she would never agree to,” he told The U.S. Sun.
“As hard as it is seeing her being taken advantage of, I know that if I’m making sure she, as a person, is okay, that is the important thing. Because eventually, she’s going to realize the craziness that’s been going on.”
Kevin said his mother’s health has declined since they lived together in Florida from late 2021 to around the spring of 2022. He hasn’t spoken to her since last October.
Kevin said when his mom was in his care, he took her to restaurants that didn’t serve alcohol.
“I know the rate that she uses alcohol isn’t like a normal person, and we’ve spoken about it. I’ve said ‘This is one thing where you don’t know how to approach it normally, and that’s fine.'”
Kevin said he fears his mother will drink herself to death.
“And it’s gotten to a point where yes, it could have that effect that it might be fatal because it affects her way worse than a normal person since it stays in her system.”
In August 2022, Kevin Jr. was served an eviction notice at his $2 million Miami apartment after he fell behind $70,000 in rent.

In an emotional letter to the eviction court in December, Kevin confessed that he signed his mother’s name on the lease because she was having health problems.
“At her request, I signed the original lease on her behalf,” he wrote.
Kevin confirmed that Wendy’s bank accounts were frozen and an executor was appointed to monitor her finances.
“As the lease approached the end, my mom went through some health issues that put the court in control of her finances,” he wrote.
Kevin Jr. told the court he is a full-time student at Florida International University in Miami, and he was forced to drop out of school for a year to take care of his mom.
He added: “All of this happened suddenly and all of the financial support that she always gave me stopped, including my housing.”
