There’s a slim chance that Barack Obama’s scaled down health care bill might pass when Congress takes a vote on March 21. The Democrats have pulled out all stops to get the votes they need. They are utilizing arm-twisting tactics, reconciliation and even threats to get the job done.
In a sign of desperation, Obama will crawl to Fox News tomorrow to give an exclusive interview
If the health care bill passes, Obama will sign the bill into law on March 21 before leaving for Asia.
Passage of this bill would give Obama the rare achievement of being the first U.S. president to get health care passed in history. The bill would extend health coverage to about 30 million uninsured Americans and would bar insurance companies from refusing coverage to people with pre-existing health problems.
30 million Americans is only 10% of the total population of the United States. That’s 270 million people less than Obama originally wanted covered. Why would Obama agree to such a massive decline in coverage?
By the end of the week, the White House will have spent over $35 million on an advertising blitz to get the votes they need for a bill that the majority of Americans don’t want. Again, why the urgent push if only 30 million uninsured are covered? This bill will end up costing taxpayers $1 trillion in taxes. Medicare will also be cut to pay for this bill.
And don’t forget, the bill mandates that everyone pay for insurance even if you don’t want it. That’s one extra bill a month that you will have to worry about. If you don’t have a job, the government will help out. But that means filling out paperwork, which will surely be mired in red tape.
What’s the point in taxing our grandchildren into oblivion if only 30 million people are covered? This bill is not about affordable health care for all Americans (since that’s not going to happen anyway). This bill is about Obama and preserving his legacy.
Point blank: 30 million is better than 0
Health care for 30 million people is nothing? Really sandra? BTW, 30 million people in addition to the millions of people who already have health care Sandra. It’s not that 30 million will have health care and 270 mil will have nothing.
I’m not even an American and even I know that.
PS. Canada rocks! lol
this web site is just awful, why is it that every other word on this site is negative, why do you have to have a picture of the president with a beer in his hand when you speak of him? i think that given the circumstances he is doing the best that he can, everybody out their with negative comments had the same opportunity he had to run from president and do a better job, but no, the people of this country would rather sit on the sideline and make negative comments instead of trying to see what they can do to make this country better. i dont ever see other countries disrespecting their leaders like the usa thats why we are so behind other countries because instead of us pulling together to help each other we’d rather tear each other down. and the last i looked the president is old enough to drink whatever he wants to drink, who could do his job without having something.
Sandra, it’s 30 millions additional people who are not currently insured. You know that.
depending on whose conducting the interview on fox i may watch it…but it’ll replay every 10 minutes on every other channel so i may skip it.
Well I am one of those 30 million that will be putting in the paperwork..I lost my job after 14 years and COBRA is killing me..so I say Yes we Can….
You left off the part how folks will also be able to get affordable insurance if they DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO INSURANCE AT ALL!!!
You also forgot to write how insurance companies will FINALLY TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF ACT RIGHT when it comes to treating their clientel base…
I know people who have worked EVERYDAY for the last 12 years…yet they haven’t had healthcare coverage because THEY COULDN’T AFFORD IT OR HAD PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS (like breathing)…
SHAME ON YOU SANDY FOR THROWING SHADE ON THIS!!!
The neocons you LOVE so much tax our children into OBLIVION by starting b.s. wars and giving tax cuts and credits to the UBER RICH…so I don’t mind my great grandchild footing the bill for something that will HELP EVERYONE!!!
(stepping off my soap box and heading back to the celebrity gossip which is why I COME HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE)
Obama is doing the best he can. people need to lay off.
Sandra sometimes I think you are a shill for the GOP. As post #2 explained, it’s 30 million folks who are currently uninsured which would mean to a logically thinking person that 270 million folks have some type of medical coverage.
Stop twisting things to fit your narrow-minded view of this important legislation and President Obama. I would think you as an expat Briton and nurse would be in favorage of health coverage for all.
Sandra, your post is full of untruths. You don’t care for President Obama, fine! If you want to post your “opinon” on your blog, fine! But to blatantly lie is disgusting, shameful and replusive.
