The son of a prominent Hollywood television producer was arrested after a woman’s dismembered torso was found in a trash bag inside a dumpster on Wednesday.
Police made the grisly discovery inside a dumpster near Ventura Boulevard and Rubio Avenue in Encino, California around 6 a.m.
Evidence found at the scene led police to the Tarzana home of Sam Haskell Jr., 35. Haskell Jr. was taken into custody on Wednesday at a shopping mall in Topanga.
The body is believed to be Haskell Jr’s wife, Mei Haskell. They have three elementary-aged children. The children are with family.
Mei Haskell’s parents, Yanxiang Wang and Gaoshen Li, are still missing.
The suspect is the son of prominent Hollywood TV producer Sam Haskell Sr., who produced singer Dolly Parton’s TV specials. Haskell Sr. and Parton are pictured at an event in 2017.
Haskell Sr. was formerly an executive at the powerful William Morris Agency and represented A-listers including Parton, Whoopi Goldberg, and George Clooney before retiring in 2005, according to RadarOnline.com.
Haskell Sr. resigned as the CEO of the Miss America pageant in 2017 after an email scandal.
Haskell Jr. is currently being held on $2 million bail. His next court date is on Nov. 13.
