Zahara Jolie, the eldest daughter of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, proudly joined Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga.
Video obtained by Essence magazine shows the 18-year-old sophomore dancing while introducing herself to the crowd during an induction ceremony at Spelman.
“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California,” she said, as the crowd cheered.
Zahara has apparently dropped her father’s surname in solidarity with her mom, Angelina, 48, who filed for divorce from Pitt, 59, in September 2016.
In addition to Zahara, Jolie and Pitt share Shiloh, 17, Maddox, 22, Pax (not pictured), and 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
According to People.com, Zahara joined the Mu Pi Chapter of the first historically Black sorority. Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded in 1908, with the Mu Pi chapter being established in 1979.
Angelina Jolie and Zahara toured the Spelman campus on move-in day in August 2022.
The A-list actress shared an Instagram photo of Zahara alongside her fellow classmates, adding, “Zahara with her Spelman sisters!”
“Congratulations to all new students starting this year,” Jolie wrote.
“A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl,” Jolie added.
During Zahara’s move-in, Jolie and Zahara met with Spelman College President Dr. Helene Gayle and Vice President for Student Affairs Darryl Holloman.
In an Instagram photo, Jolie posed with Gayle on the Spelman campus. When asked how she felt about being a Spelman mom, Jolie replied, “I’m gonna start crying! I have not started crying yet.”
