Tiffany Haddish and rapper Common dated for a year from 2000 until 2021. She says he pursued her for 2 years until she finally said Okay. Now she says she notices a distinct pattern in his dating history.
“The only celebrity I’ve entangled with,” she says of Common, “it was two years of him chasing me down before I finally was like, ‘Okay, let’s do something.’ That was top of 2020, but we met at the beginning of 2018, 2017.”
Common, 52, and the comic actress, 44, seemed happy in the year that they dated. He told People.com in July 2021, “I need to enjoy life. So I feel, with Tiffany and I, I’ve been experiencing that and I’m grateful for that.”
However, Haddish said they split after he dumped her over the phone in August 2021.
“It wasn’t mutual,” Haddish told The Washington Post. “It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.'”
Now, after studying Common’s dating history, Haddish says she notices a distinct pattern.
“It’s every two years. It’s like six to nine months single and then two years on [in a relationship] and then six to nine months single and then two years on. That’s his schedule. That’s his cycle.”
She added: “I ain’t mad at that. There’s a gang of old a– men that’s not famous that’s doing the same thing.”
Haddish, who lives a celibate lifestyle, told People.com, “You know what I noticed, when [you’re celibate], it’s like men love you even more. They work even harder. Take you on trips. They be in love. They’re like, ‘I’ve never been in a relationship like this. It’s amazing!’ and I’m like ‘We in a relationship? I thought you were just taking me to eat.'”
