Beyoncé’s BeyGood Foundation donated $2.5 million to a wildfire relief fund to help displaced families in California.
Beyoncé is giving back to her fans on the West Coast by donating $2.5 million to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Fund, it was announced in an Instagram post on Sunday.
The donation is specifically earmarked for disaster victims in the Altadena/Pasadena areas.
“Los Angeles we stand with you. The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” the non-profit organization said.
The foundation asked for public donations to support their philanthropy efforts.
“To show your support for the impacted families and to learn more about BeyGOOD’s mission, please visit https://beygood.org,” the post continued.
In 2023, Beyonce and her husband, Jay-Z, purchased a home on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu for a record $200 million. It is unknown if the home is still standing after wildfires demolished the Malibu area.
At least 24 people are dead and more than 12,000 structures, including 10,000 homes, destroyed by the wildfires that began on Jan. 4 in the Palisades.
More than 150,000 people in Los Angeles County are under evacuation orders. More than 700 people have taken refuge in luxury hotels and nine shelters, officials said.
14,000 crews from 8 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Ukraine are on the ground battling the fires.
California Governor Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass have refused to take responsibility for the lack of water to fight the wildfires early on.
