British journalist Piers Morgan called Don Lemon a “d–k” on live television. The insult left Lemon dumbstruck and at a loss for words for the first time in his life.
The incident happened during Lemon’s interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday, Sept. 18.
Lemon became enraged after Morgan aired a clip that got the former CNN anchor fired. Lemon complained that Morgan ambushed him by airing the clip.
“When I asked you what subjects you wanted to talk about, you know what you said to me? You said ‘I want to talk to you about freedom of speech in America and the response to Charlie Kirk’s death,'” said Lemon.
“Not once did you mention that we were gonna talk about CNN or whatever. And had I known that, I probably wouldn’t have accepted this interview,” Lemon added.
Lemon continued: “I thought you would also stick by the subjects you told me that you were gonna talk about rather than try to ambush me with something.”
However, Morgan insisted they never discussed what he would talk about on his show.
At one point, Lemon told Morgan, “I don’t appreciate being ambushed.” Lemon also told Morgan not to interrupt him: “I don’t like arguing like this. I’m not going to get into an argument with you… Please stop interrupting me, OK? Did you invite me here to interrupt me or are you gonna let me answer the question?”
Before Lemon could finish his sentence, Morgan said, “I think you’re being a complete d–k if I’m honest with you.”
Morgan’s remark left Lemon stunned and speechless for the first time in his life.
When Lemon recovered from the shock, he chuckled and said sarcastically, “Well, that’s very kind and respectful of you.”
Morgan responded: “It wasn’t intended to be kind or respectful.”
Morgan also said Lemon was “very bitter” about his circumstances in life.
Lemon’s fall from grace is still the talk of newsrooms. After anchoring shows on CNN from 2006 until 2014, Lemon hosted his own prime time show from 2014 until 2023.
He was fired from CNN in 2023 after he suggested that presidential candidate Nikki Haley was too old to run for president.
“Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. A woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s,” he said.
