Rapper Young Thug shocked his fans by urging Black people to wear whiteface. Thugga wears whiteface and blue contacts on the cover of his fourth studio album, UY SCUTI.

In a post on Instagram, he wrote: “IF YOU WANNA BE THE BIGGEST… GO WHITE!”

He also posted a montage of fellow rappers wearing whiteface.

Black women fear this new trend will catch on among Black men who view whiteface as a way to give them an advantage in a racist society.

Earlier this month, social media comedian Druski wore elaborate “whiteface” makeup to portray a NASCAR fan.

Druski’s whiteface skit didn’t go over well with NASCAR fans who accused him of reinforcing stereotypes by portraying them as rednecks and racists.

But the skit went viral earning over 70 million views.

Whiteface is the reverse of blackface in which white people performed on stage and in films while wearing blackface theatrical makeup.

Young Thug also posted an image of rapper 21 Savage (pictured) wearing whiteface.

X (Twitter) users reacted to the album cover with mockery and insults.

One X user wrote: “I beg you with everything you love, do not make this the cover art.”

Another person wrote: “Thug the cover so ugly this might genuinely effect streams.”

A third person commented: “I thought that s–t was fake… who told thug white face for his album cover was the wave? Had to be the Canadian.”

Thug’s UY SCUTI only streamed 9.6 million times its first full day on Spotify.

By comparison, rapper Gunna’s 6th studio album, The Last Wun, was streamed over 18 million times on its first day on Spotify.

Cardi B’s AM I THE DRAMA? earned 14 million streams its opening day on Spotify.
