Fans rallied around R&B singer Brandy Norwood after she abruptly left the stage during “The Boy is Mine” tour stop in Chicago on October 18.

Disappointed fans took to social media to complain and demand refunds since they never got the chance to see Brandy and Monica perform their hit duet “The Boy is Mine”.

Other fans immediately defended Brandy on social media and expressed concern for her health and welfare.

One person wrote on Threads: “We’ve seen too many artists pass out and die on stage because they ignored their health.”

Another person wrote on X (Twitter): “If Brandy left the stage & didn’t return, something serious must have happened. Brandy wouldn’t do that for just any reason. I just hope that Brandy is ok.”

On Sunday, Brandy issued a statement saying she experienced symptoms of dehydration and she felt faint.

However, cell phone video shows Brandy walk off the stage and make a beeline for the sound board. The video shows Brandy apparently shoving the sound guy aside so she could adjust the knobs on the sound board herself.

One skeptical fan on X (Twitter) wrote, “So… you were about to faint, but left the stage and immediately went to the sound person instead of finding the nearest chair? Alright lol.”

Another fan wrote: “But we saw you go right to the sound board.”

A third person commented on TikTok: “It’s crazy because Monica’s mic wasn’t working properly on opening night in Cincinnati, yet she still stayed on stage and finished her set.”

Many fans praised Monica for her professionalism and always being considerate of her fans.

One fan suggested she should have gone on tour with Atlanta rapper Rasheeda Frost instead.
