Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott has donated $300 million to Historically Black Colleges and University’s in just one month.

According to reports, Scott also donated to nonprofit organizations that promote affordable higher education for students of color.

On Monday, the billionaire philanthropist donated $38 million to Alabama State University, a public HBCU located in Montgomery, Alabama.

She also gave $42 million to Alcorn State University, an HBCU based in Lorman, Mississippi. The gift brings her total support of the university to $67 million.

Scott’s $25 million donation to Alcorn University in 2020 helped seed new scholarships.

In mid-October, Scott gave $63 million to Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. It is the largest gift in the university’s history – and Scott’s second donation to the school in 5 years.

Last week, Scott donated $38 million to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, an HBCU in Princess Anne, Maryland. She gifted $20 million to the school five years ago.

Scott’s philanthropy has been focused on HBCUs and nonprofits that provide affordable access to higher education for underserved students of color.

“Votes are not the only way to show what we’d like to see more of in our societies,” Scott wrote on her website, Yield Giving.

“There are many ways to influence how we move through the world and where we land,” she added.
