A mother was arrested after her toddler fell out of a moving SUV and landed in the roadway in Southern California.

Shocking video shows a black SUV driving in Fullerton, California on January 20. The front passenger door opened and a baby is seen falling onto the roadway. The SUV stopped and nearly caused a rear end collision with a car behind it.

A woman is seen getting out of the driver’s side of the SUV and picking up the child before driving away.

Police wrote on Facebook:

“As the vehicle enters the intersection and completes the turn, the front passenger door opens and. The SUV immediately stops, nearly causing a traffic collision with the vehicle behind it. An adult female is then seen running from the driver’s side of the SUV, picking up the child, and returning to the vehicle before the video ends.”

On January 24, a witness came forward and turned over the video to police.

Police located the SUV in the City of La Habra, and Jacqueline Marie Hernandez, 35, was taken into custody on suspicion of child abuse. The toddler was not secured in a baby car seat as required by law.

Police said the 19-month-old child was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries consistent with the fall.
