Vlogger Tommy Sotomayor is highly critical of the new Serena Williams Barbie doll. Tommy criticized toy manufacturer Mattel for making Serena’s doll skinny and outfitting her with a blonde wig, aka “blonde Luka Doncic wig!”

Tommy wrote in a post on X.com:
“Look At How Mattel not only had to make the Serena Williams Doll as skinny as Barbie but also gave her a blonde Wig! Fellas, Imagine the Lebron James doll having a blonde Luka Doncic Wig! lol. The World would laugh and so would black women, Let that sink in! Yet this is how they want the world to see them, always with a hair hat on! SMH Everyday is Halloween for these ShallowQueens!”

Serena headlines the upcoming Barbie Dream Fest, which takes place from March 27–29 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The retired tennis champ will receive the inaugural Barbie Dream Fest Icon Award.
“This prestigious recognition celebrates individuals who break barriers, redefine expectations, and inspire others to dream without limits,” Mattel announced. “Icon Award recipients represent the heart of Dream Fest: empowerment, authenticity, and the fearless courage to lead the way.”
“Barbie has always stood for dreaming without limits,” Serena said in a statement. “She shows girls everywhere they can be athletes, leaders, creators, anything they imagine.”
Serena added: “I’m so excited to be part of the first-ever Barbie Dream Fest, where it’s all about celebrating the legacy of Barbie and inspiring the next generation to believe they can be anything.”
In addition to Serena, Barbie Dream Fest’s Instagram announcement confirmed that WNBA player Angel Reese will also take the stage as a “featured speaker and special guest.”
