A woman claims Olive Garden fired her daughter after she received a $700 tip. The large tip for a $32 meal raised red flags with the restaurant’s management.

Olive Garden management asked the server to write $0 on the tip line and told her it would take 120 days to process the $700 tip. The server was given $6 – which is a 20% tip.

The server was very upset but she finished her shift that night. When she returned to work the next morning the management fired her and called the police because she was crying.

The server’s mom, who goes by “Phat Buni” on TikTok, updated her followers on Wednesday.

Phat Buni explained that her daughter knows the customer personally. She said the customer told her that Olive Garden charged his debit card twice – once for $38 and another transaction for $693.

The customer said he locked his debit card to prevent any further transactions. Meanwhile, the restaurant accused the customer of trying to scam Olive Garden with a fraudulent transaction.

Olive Garden addressed the situation on TikTok, saying it is Olive Garden’s policy to “verify tips over $500 or far above the check amount.” Olive Garden contacted the bank and confirmed there were “insufficient funds” to cover the $700 tip.

Olive Garden wrote:

“To protect our guests and team members from fraud, we have a policy in place to verify tips over $500 When a tip like this is given, the team member immediately receives a 20 percent tip on the check, and the remaining amount is provided once payment is successfully confirmed. In this case, we followed our policy for a tip that exceeded 2,000% on a $32 check, and we have verified that the tip amount was declined due to insufficient funds. This team member was not terminated because of the tip that was left on the check, and we have shared all this information directly with her.”
