A family friend describes Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius as a “broken man” who is on the verge of suicide.
“He has no confidence in his tone of voice and he is almost like someone that is walking around in circles and doesn’t know where he is going,” Mike Azzie told the BBC in an upcoming documentary.
“I would say that, just speaking to him, he is a broken man. I would go as far as to say that he could be on the verge of suicide. It really worries me,” said Azzie in the upcoming BBC documentary, Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened?
Azzie said the double amputee has been forced to sell off his prized possessions to pay for his spiraling legal fees.
Pistorius was most likely drunk the night he shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s day in his Pretoria, South Africa mansion.
But the man dubbed ‘Blade Runner’ by the media is sober now and surely he realizes that his life as a celebrated world class athlete is over. But if the narcissist sheds any tears at all, they are not for Reeva, they are for himself.
During a bail hearing in February, Pistorius buried his face in his hands, sobbing, but photos show his eyes were dry.
Steenkamp, 29, was shot multiple times through a locked bathroom door after Pistorius claimed he mistook her for a burglar. Pistorius was arrested and charged with premeditated murder. He was released on $1 million rand bail on Feb. 22 and ordered to turn over his passport and report to a probation officer daily between 7 am and 1 pm.
The runner was also ordered to stay away for his luxury Pretoria mansion which is still an active crime scene.
Pistorius’s lawyers are petitioning the court to relax the bail restrictions so Pistorius can travel out of the country and participate in track events. In other words, so he can get on with his life.
