The sometimes eccentric and intensely private rock star Prince came out of his shell recently to grant London’s Daily Mail newspaper an exclusive interview.
During the interview, Prince declared the internet “over” and “outdated,” and said he refuses to use any form of digital technology to download his upcoming album.
Prince expressed displeasure with the online music distribution giant iTunes: “The internet is completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.”
Prince also criticised the advent of gadgets and computers: “All these computers and digital gadgets are no good.
“They just fill your head with numbers and that cant be good for you.”
His new album is his 27th release and may be distributed via Warner Brothers in the US – but there will be no downloads available in the world. Read More…
Prince has been “over” and “outdated” for a minute now anyway. So who cares about his upcoming album? These celebrities need to get over themselves.
“Lifetime Achievement Award” my azz!
Prince looking like a pimp called Slickback
he’s a gorgeous man
Prince is NOT a man….
I love Prince! Outdated and over, never that. His music catalogue and his looks insusre his name will always be relevant.
Never was a Prince fan. When I was little I used to love that movie Purple Rain but now that I’m older I realise it wasn’t all of that.
Good Morning!
Prince….gotta love him
SANDRA LEAVE PRINCE ALONE
*walks away wiping tear”
Game…..blouses
I swear I think about that episode every time I see Prince!
could it be why he is still relevant is
A) he has talent
B) he has not “whored” hisself out to the media
C) he is PRINCE DAMMIT bow down bishes !!! LOL
GOOD Morning …
just read the article, would have been freaked out if I was the interviewer at a party of 5. Prince def wins for different.
Pancakes? Would you like some grapes?
LMAO @2n10
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!! Hope everyone had a good time this weekend.
This is the same man who was pissed at the evolution of itunes when the first ipod came out and he went at the internet and music sales throught the internet so no surprise here. Actually I thought the diva would have been flipped.
Prince needs to realize that the internet isn’t outdated and without it he wouldn’t be relevant today! We arent in the 70’s and 80’s anymore!
SR now you know you love some Prince! He’s a timeless artist..where are your 100 million copies sold?
In the voice of Ice-T… “And the winner of playa-hater of the year is… Sandra Rose”
Morning
The comments on Sandras friend NBs site were hilliarous regardng Prince and his beauty
Prince always seems to stay ahead of the curve
I wonder what if anything will replace blog sites
Good morning everybody. Prince has been a champion for artist rights since I can remember. I don’t blame him for wanting his money and for not letting the record companies and music outlets pimp him and his music.
Good Morning Hope all Enjoyed their Independence Holiday : )
I concur 100% with Prince who speaks of wisdom ; )
@ Renegade
someone sent me that clip last week and I usually dont like Dave Chappelle but that was too funny!
Prince will forever be different….It has worked this long and it will continue to work for him. #LetPrincebegreat
ur Purple majesty
Good morning fam….
I still love me some prince. I don’t think the internet is outdated but that’s how he feels personally especially in regards to his music and the $$$ issue.
I only use the internet for a few things: occassional e-mail, plane tickets, SR website and paying bills. I don’t facebook- twitter- myspace or any of that. I know that many people use those to connect with family, friends or classmates but I also see how dozens of people use it for flirting and other mess. Not that big of a deal to me so I don’t use any of that.

Oh my you sound just like me! I thought I was the only person that has no online presence, outside of being waterlily_76 on SR.com.
You ask who cares? I care. Prince is an icon, a musical genius, and he will never be over. His contribution to music is priceless. The people who are loyal to him (and believe me, there are ALOT of people that are) will be checking for his new release.
As an IT professional I don’t necessarily agree that the Internet is “over”, but I do understand his perspective as it pertains to I-Tunes and his music.
Prince is an icon and should be respected as such!
Prince is like a well preserved mummy, I swear if I ever saw him smile his whole face would crack.

Word. Download Rhiana’s CD or holla at the “DVDs/CDs” guy in front of the Hair Depot. Yes. Download a Prince album??? No. MUST purchase at Best Buy–must!
Prince is a FRAUD.
In the music industry and other institutions, if you are not being hunted down for death like ‘ they ‘ did Michael Jackson, Malcolm X, William Cooper, Pimp C….etc then you are WITH THE EVIL POWERS THAT BE.
List of Frauds:
Prince
Erykah Badu
Nas
T.I. ( new member )
Creflo Dollar, Eddie Long, TD Jakes
Obama
Elijah Mohammed
Al Sharpton
Louis Farrakhan
and a whole lot of other frauds
Pimp C
To say that he is outdated is just disrespectful. When does music die or become outdated? Seriously? People may move on to new releases but no matter how old it is, a song lives on.
@ Brown…can you repost that again…just for me?? “Cause dammit I just can’t. #33 please.
GAME!……… BLOUSES!
@waterlily_76 ……
I can see facebook being used to reconnect with old friends or people networking for business and or motivational purposes, but SOME people don’t know how to maintain themselves accordingly on these sites.
I see grown people that act like teenagers getting on facebook everyday and that’s all they do hour after hour. The few friends that I do have- have had all kinds of relationship trouble (drama..mess)and these days it always has something to do with FB or some other online crap. No thanks…im good.
So Pimp C was murdered?!?!?!?! I wonder why the “POWERS THAT BE” wanted him dead
Pimp C had found knowledge that he was trying to share with others, and they killed for exposing stuff. Trust and believe he did not overdose. They killed him.
Oh yeah, add Nelson Mandela and Toni Braxton to the list of Frauds too.
Prince is definitely not “over” and “outdated”…he has MILLIONS of loyal, dedicated fans.
And that little situation with Dave Chappelle and the airplane….trust and believe that they are after him too.
umm t put Pimp C in the same sentence as Malcolm X is an “abomination” in and of itself
#that is all

bsp u rocking them frames girl!!!!
so what knowledge was he tryin to share
There is this book called ” Behold a Pale White Horse “, the author of the book was William Cooper. They off’d him for exposing too much in that book.
This is the same book, along with some others that Pimp C was trying to educate brothers with, and they killed him for that. Pimp C mentions these in one of his songs.
Thanks Lex, i tried to do one from the front but it won’t loade so maybe that’s their way of tellin me I’m too ugly for a full face shot!
If only I could post images, it would make these things a whole lot easier for you all to see.
I thought the book was called “A Pale Horse” so where did “white” come in

I am a huge fan. My Little Purple Rain still looks pretty and I have never seen a better person in concert than him. I think I have seen him altogether in concert about 5 times. Right now he is still touring in London and can bring in more crowds and more money than Madonna.

Hey AM. Yes about his music. My hubby is his biggest fan and had to listen to his last CD a few times to decide he liked it. Prince is a JW and can’t sing some of his songs of yesteryear, nor make that kind of muscic again.
PRINCE FOREVER!!!

He is not
Just cause he pretty don’t mean he like dack
The End.
I love me some Prince. But I must say that he is completely wrong about the Internet. In fact, the Internet has actually helped spread his music to a generation and fan base that wouldn’t otherwise know much about him. Prince used to use the Internet heavily in the early 2000’s through his NPG (New Power Generation) music club. A few of his albums and songs were only available on his site for purchase and download. You had to pay a monthly fee to be in the NPG and a few years ago, he let go of the site.
Prince guards his image heavily. If you ever have any of his likeliness on YouTube, he gets his management to take it down. Try hunting for Prince material on YouTube. It is rather hard to find.
he just doesnt want his album to do like drakes did.. everybody downloading it and not buyingh it in the stores.. Prince is a legend.. everyone knows he’s talented- he just wants everybody to buy the album the ol skool way
This fool was a “has been” about 20 years ago. I mean, he has 5 good songs in a whole century of making music….10 good songs max.
He should be payin people to listen to his new chit. SMH.
I think to a point he is right the advent of digital music is in some respects dead as relates to the internet and people actually buying music. fact that music sales go down further with the spread of broadband internet so while people can still sale music these days its more of an exception than the rule. the top musical acts top out around 3 million these days a far cry from 7-10 years ago when you could do 6-7 mill even in some cases 10. so the avenue of really getting money from selling your music from the internet is in most cases dead. also someone as musically inclined as prince have a hard time hearing there music dumbed down in mixes for digital distribution. you simply loose the lush musical arrangements in music compressed for digital distribution. something thats there on albums and even properly mixed cds i know this is something dr dre also recently spoke about in regards to his music also.

LOL. My hubby got so happy a couple of weeks age, he found a new Price Website. I can say that when going to a Prince concert he gives away his latest CD.
Prince will never be outdated! If you have been robbed of monies from these companies then I wouldn’t use them as well. He has reason for him not using these services. Most of the entertainment industry is so money hungry the would rather get a piece a small piece of the pie instead of what they really deserve. Since it is their music. The music industry robs MOST of the artist they have out. They is why they have to brand themselves to make money. Price may be alot of things but you will never call him stupid. Every move he makes has to make since if it doesn’t then there is no reason to worry his handsome little head about it. He made money prior to using Itunes and all that crap..he will continue because one thing he has is a VERY STRONG FAN BASE.
There is nothing over and outdated about Prince and he’s right. He’s one of the few artists who could successfully keep his work off the internet and away from bootleggers and all that. He may be eccentric but he’s a genius, can’t nobody touch him and he’s always been ahead of the game so trust he knows what he’s doing. His fans will be buying including myself.
As far as his comment regarding the internet being dead. I actually agree that the internet as we know it is on its way out. There will be major changes in the near future to the way it is regulated, paid for and how its used so while it won’t go the way of pagers per se its definitely going to be evolving and restructured. I have a love/hate relationship with the internet. While it’s made life much easier and has literally put the world at everyones fingertips, it has damaged irreversibly at least two generations of young people, destroyed industries (especially the music, radio and newspaper industries), caused a thousand and one social problems which have heightened crime, promoted irresponsibility, zero accountability, add like symptoms in kids and adults, etc. I could write a book on the problems caused by the internet and I’m not the only one. Changes are definitely in the works that will end the free realm everything goes nature of the web
**waving** at Anna!!!
Prince’s diva attitude is a turnoff. He made good music though when he is actually being himself. I don’t like supporting artist with a diva attitude though. The internet is the ain outlet now for music artists. Its bad because it has destroyed places like BET and MTV, video artists. You can see the video online instead of watching it on TV.
Prince is wearing that damn outfit lol
I agree with Prince. While the internet has help promote artist, especially new ones, it has also hurt them. Those same new artist get dropped by their labels, or don’t get the chance to see a second album because of bootlegging and file sharing.
Remember when people used to anticipate albums? There’s no more excitement waiting on a release date because by the time it drops you’ve already heard whats offered. All these so called “leaks” are too much. If artists put in enough effort to make a great album, then they wouldn’t have to relay on “leaking” songs to get public opinion.
I don’t know what Prince means by saying he does not give his music to iTunes, because I have several Prince songs on my iPod, downloaded from iTunes.
Gravi Check =)
