A North Carolina landscaper denies throwing an unauthorized party at a client’s $4.3 million mansion in Weddington. Police arrested Michael Brown, 37, who owns Brown’s Dream Team Landscaping. He denies organizing a large party at the residence without permission.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, hundreds of guests – mostly teens and young adults – paid an entry fee after Brown advertised the bash on social media.

Police found $3,000 cash on Brown when he was taken into custody. But Brown denies charging guests to party at the house.

The homeowner was out of town on the day of the party.

Neighbors grew concerned about the loud music, foot traffic, and cars parked everywhere. “I was like, that’s not a venue, how are they managing this, so, we were disturbed with all the traffic and the cars and the people and not knowing what’s happening,” neighbor Wendy Squires, told WBTV.

Cops arrived to shut the party down. Law enforcement officers determined Brown was the party organizer. He claimed he was the homeowner who threw a graduation party for his son. Brown then changed his story and claimed he was the grandson of the homeowner. Police arrested Brown when he couldn’t prove he owned the house.

“He represented himself as the homeowner and said he was having a party.” Lieutenant James Maye said. “He was, in fact, not the homeowner, not related to the homeowner, but in fact was the yard guy.”

“It was mostly teenagers and young adults. We estimate anywhere from three to four hundred people were at the house, and a lot of underage drinking was going on,” Lt. Maye stated.

Brown posted a $10,000 bond after he was charged with breaking and entering, second-degree trespassing, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, injury to real property and obtaining property by false pretenses.

“I didn’t break the law, I just broke some rules of probably what the owners didn’t want me to do, but I didn’t break the law,” Brown told WSOC-TV.

“I just want to always do something where we could create an income and bring a positive environment for his friends,” Brown said.

The homeowner’s son said his parents were not aware of the party. Jante Burch said his parents’ home was illegally taken over for an unauthorized party. Burch said the house “was left a hot mess, essentially.”

“Bruh, you cut grass. You’re the hired help, so you were there for that reason, and that reason only,” said Burch. “He’s a liar,” Burch said of Brown.

Brown told WSOC that he “definitely” plans to throw another party soon.
