Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown issued a warning to fans who lose bets on his games. Brown is tired of fans’ complaints about losing parlay bets.
Sports gambling is a problem for athletes who are often blamed if fans lose money on sports bettng.
“With the fans, nowadays in this era, it’s all about gambling,” the 6′ 6″ Celtics forward said during his recent appearance on “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game” podcast.
Brown said sports gambling has “created a hostile environment almost for athletes.” He said he’s seen threats from fans who lost a bundle on a parlay.
“I can have a good game and ni**as still be online talking sh*t,” he said. “But if I do happen to get on, if I do happen to just scroll, the comments be like, ‘F**k you, ni**a… if I see you in the street…’ I’m like, ‘For real?'”
Brown, 28, said he’s ready to defend himself if a fan steps to him about losing a parlay bet.
“I’mma say this to the camera, if one of you parlay muthaf**kers run up on me, I’mma f**k you up. I’m telling you,” he said. “Try it if you want to. That’s all I’ma say.”
A parlay is a single NBA wager with multiple selections, and all of the selections must win in order to collect on the bet.
So far, 39 states and Washington, D.C., have legalized sports gambling.
A serious gambling addiction can lead to financial ruin, health problems, and marital problems.
