The nation’s only Black-owned whiskey distillery is on the brink of bankruptcy.

On March 17, Uncle Nearest CEO Fawn Weaver announced she filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to protect the 159-year-old whiskey distillery from creditors.

Weaver also announced a lawsuit against a Kentucky-based lender for running a “smear campaign” against her.

A judge placed Uncle Nearest in receivership after Fawn and her husband defaulted on $108 million loans in 2025.

Phillip Young, the receiver who is running the company, called for sanctions against Weaver and is trying to block the bankruptcy.

In a video uploaded to Instagram on Tuesday, Weaver told followers that she filed for bankruptcy protection. She said that she was committed to transparency, and directed her followers to her website, Follow the Case, featuring court records and files.

By filing the bankruptcy, Weaver said the receivership has been dissolved.

“As founder and CEO, the responsibility for addressing this and moving the company forward ultimately rests with me and me alone,” Weaver said. “I should have seen the signs sooner. I should have acted sooner. I wish I had, but I can’t go back and change the past.”

“The accusations circulated about us were not only false, the bank knew they were false when they made them, and they knew those accusations would strike directly at the credibility that allowed this brand to grow against all odds in this industry,” Weaver said in a news release.

“The follow the case link on the Fawn Weaver site is not new,” Weaver’s attorney J. Richard Byrd told theGrio.com. “It has been there for quite some time. It was created as a place for people to have the ability to look and read the filings and responses for themselves.”

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were seen for the first time since their Beverly Hills mansion was shot up by a deranged fan. TMZ published photos that show the couple keeping a low profile as they exited a NYC building with about 6 bodyguards around them.

Witnesses say they moved quickly as they headed to their waiting SUV with tight security flanking them on all sides.

Ivanna Ortiz, from Orlando, is accused of firing at least 10 rounds at Rihanna’s home. She was arrested and is being held on $10.2 million bail. She is charged with attempted murder and other felony counts.

A worker was seen repairing bullet holes in Rihanna’s house on March 17.

The shooting has led to a noticeable increase in security around Rihanna. She has good reason to be afraid.

The pop singer’s overzealous fans take an intense interest in her day-to-day activities. Her every move is documented on dozens of Rihanna fan pages on social media.

Rihanna named her fans the “Navy” after her 2010 debut fragrance, “Reb’elle La Vie En Couture,” which features the logo “RiRi Navy.”

Rihanna’s fans used to have easy access to her. She often recruited them to promote her brands and projects.

Now insiders say her main priority is protecting her three children and maintaining a sense of normalcy for them.

Rebel Wilson is speaking out after her public relations team was caught plotting against her film’s producer in a leaked audio.

The recording allegedly captures head crisis publicist Jed Wallace telling publicist Melissa Nathan to claim Amanda Ghost – a co-producer on Wilson’s film “The Deb” – transported young girls for s*x with wealthy men.

Ghost and other producers are suing Wilson for slander and defamation. Ghost’s lawsuit is one of 4 filed against Wilson.

In a lengthy Instagram story post, Wilson explained that wealthy Russian oligarch Sir Len Blavatnik is behind the lawsuits. She also claimed Hollywood is conspiring to silence her.

Wilson went to Blavatnik to finance her movie, The Deb. But she fell out with the film’s producers, including Amanda Ghost.

Blavatnik, who owns Warner Music Group, sided with the film’s producers.

Wilson accused Blavatnik of financing the lawsuits against her. She also said he’s mentioned in the Epstein files.

Some Reddit.com users sided with Blavatnik and the film’s producers.

A Reddit.com user wrote:

“Wilson hired a very nasty PR company and they have been caught pulling allegations against the producer out of their a*s. Then she denied being involved with them, which was later proven to be untrue because she sent a document with her business email and recently a voicenote was released where it was even more clear they were just making stuff up. Wilson is just using the billionaire stuff to deflect.

A fashion correspondent for E! News drew backlash when she described Chase Infiniti’s loose curly braids extensions as “undone hair”.

The “One Battle After Another” star, 25, graced the red carpet in a custom lilac Louis Vuitton gown adorned with cascading ruffles. She accessorized with waist length boho knotless braids extensions styled by Coree Moreno.

“Let’s think about this awesome, almost like undone hair with the done dress. Actually, it’s mirroring the ruffles on the dress, that beautiful hair,” Zanna Roberts Rassi said during the Oscars broadcast on Sunday.

“The commentary I of course didn’t like, but it provoked a conversation around how we are still limited as Black people when it comes to how we want to show up,” Coree Moreno tells Girls United.

“Every Black woman knows what exactly this style is. It’s probably the most desired braid style for the past three years… The key is to be more organic with boho placement,” he explained.

“I often see boho styles extremely strategic, same number of boho strands on each braid, often one solid color and I do the exact opposite. 2 to 3 colors are often used to highlight the texture and depending on where I’m at in the head placement becomes very intuitive and less structured.”

Coree added that some women overdo their protective hairstyles. Most women who wear protective styles for long periods sacrifice their hairlines and edges.

Most women rob themselves of having a natural texture to go back to.

Coree also warns against the over-use of products, noting that “minimal product” is essential because “all the handling gel sets you up for a stiff style.”

“I think the mindset of most women is to always be perfectly kept but in reality they’ve positioned themselves horribly, robbing themselves of options and having a natural texture to go back to,” he warns. While he appreciates the protective hairstyles, he prioritizes the longevity of natural hair.

“My methods have integrity with the forward mindset of curl retention and not doing a style that will set someone back,” Coree said.

A former law enforcement officer believes Nancy Guthrie’s abductor is a woman who wears a size 8 or 9 woman’s shoe.

The former cop made the comment on a popular true crime forum weeks after the 84-year-old grandmother was taken from her bed on February 1. She has not been seen since.

FBI Director Kash Patel released doorbell camera images that show the masked suspect approaching Nancy’s front door on the night she went missing in Arizona’s Catalina Foothills.

The suspect’s eyes appear to be feminine with long eyelashes.

The FBI described the suspect as average build, about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 inches tall.

Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, longtime host of NBC’s Today show, stands 5-foot-10 and wears a size 9 shoe.

The sheriff’s office cleared Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, as suspects.

Retired Phoenix Police homicide sergeant Troy Hillman told Us Weekly that the suspect is likely someone known to the family.

Hillman criticized Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos for putting out too much information in the first couple of days.

He said the sheriff’s decision to open up the crime scene to the family in the first week possibly tainted evidence.

Sheriff Nanos has come under fire for his handling of the case. He faces recall efforts in Pima County.

Republican candidate Daniel Butierez is collecting signatures on Facebook to oust Nanos from office.

“Help us get these done, get these signed, and let’s get the sheriff out of office and get someone in there that we can feel confident in,” Butierez wrote.

According to USA Today, court records show Nanos misrepresented his early work history on his public resume.

“When you see something this troubling and serious going on with one of the county officeholders, it’s very, very important for us to investigate as fully as possible and to find out more information,” Pima County Supervisor Matt Heinz told the Republic in a telephone interview.

A $1.2 million reward is being offered for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery.

Hospital sues patient who refuses to leave after being discharged 5 months ago

A Tallahassee, Florida hospital filed a lawsuit against a patient who refused to leave her bed after being discharged in October 2025.

In a lawsuit filed earlier this month, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) said the patient was treated in October and no longer needs “acute care hospital services.”

The patient was discharged home on October 6, 2025, but she refused to leave. 5 months later, she is still occupying the hospital room.

According to the lawsuit, TMH security and administration made “repeated efforts” to get the patient to leave, including coordinating with family members.

On November 24, TMH provided written notice to the patient, citing the facility’s limited beds, and the patient is occupying a bed that other patients need.

“TMH has limited inpatient beds,” according to the lawsuit. “The defendant’s continued occupancy prevents use of the bed for patients needing acute care” and her “continued presence” is taking up resources and staff time.

“TMH is not able to discuss active legal matters, including background details,” a representative told PEOPLE in an email.

TMH has requested a court order allowing the sheriff’s office to physically remove the patient. A hearing is set for March 30.

Fulton County tax service left clients owing thousands to IRS

Taxpayers in Fulton County, Georgia accused Whitlan Tax Service owner Jahaya King and her husband of keeping their money and not filing their tax returns.

Customers of Whitlan Tax Service contacted Channel 2 investigative reporter Ashli Lincoln after receiving notices from the IRS. The notices informed them that their tax returns were never filed.

Now the victims owe thousands in unpaid taxes to the IRS and the state tax authorities.

Donna Hines claims she paid $15,000 to settle her elderly mother’s taxes. But King and her husband allegedly kept the money and didn’t pay the IRS.

“Every month she would have a thousand dollars withdrawn from my account,” Hines told Channel 2 News.

Hines said King told her the payments were being sent to the IRS.

Hines’ mother has since died, but she is still working to resolve tax debt tied to returns she says were never filed. She said the debt has ballooned to $28,000.

“If I had paid it on time, it would have been about $6,500,” Hines said. “Because of the penalties and the delay and no processing of her information, it is now $28,000.”

Another woman said King and her husband promised her a $40,000 refund, which seemed unrealistic at the time. The woman later learned her return was falsified.

Channel 2 reports that neither King nor her husband have a federally required Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) on file with the IRS.

Customers who called King’s office were told she was sick. But King was seen live-streaming on social media.

Lincoln visited Whitlan Tax Service and was told King was in the hospital. Lincoln then went to King’s home, where King spoke to her through a home alarm system.

“I’ll tell you what you need to do — you need to leave the street,” a voice from the home system said.

South Fulton police confirmed there is an active investigation involving Whitlan Tax Service. The IRS also confirmed it is reviewing the allegations.

Michael B. Jordan made history as one of only 6 Black male actors to win an Academy Award for Best Actor. The others are Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker and Will Smith.

Michael won the Oscar for his dual role as twin brothers in the vampire thriller “Sinners.”

When Michael was a starving actor he often ate at In-N-Out Burger restaurants because the food was good and the prices were affordable.

So when he won his first Oscar Award on Sunday, he headed to his favorite In-N-Out Burger restaurant to celebrate with a quiet dinner.

Unfortunately, fans recognized Michael carrying his Oscar Award into the restaurant. They uploaded videos of the celebrity sighting on social media.

Michael’s humble celebration turned In-N-Out Burger into Grand Central Station with fans crammed into every inch of In-N-Out Burger to snap photos of him and his golden statuette.

One fan captioned a video: “POV: You’re at In-N-Out and Michael B. Jordan walks in with the Oscar like it’s just another Sunday lol LA is insane.”

Actress Lisa Rinna’s unique Oscars gown was crafted from 11 pounds of human hair and took 16 seamstresses working 152 hours around-the-clock to create.

The dress was designed by Christian Cowan in partnership with TRESemmé.

According to InStyle, the custom gown “featured intricately woven layers of brown hair that cascaded down in strips of varying thickness and length.”

The 62-year-old “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum wore the hair-raising gown to the 2026 Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party in Los Angeles on Sunday.

“The hair is not the finishing touch of this look—it is the look,” Cowan said of his hairy creation. “The concept for the design was simple but powerful; if the TRESemmé A-List Collection can deliver couture-level results on hair, it can deliver couture-level results on a couture gown made from hair.”

Fox News interrupted its daily broadcast to announce White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.

Fox News cut to “Outnumbered” host Harris Faulkner, who revealed Wiles’ cancer diagnosis.

Faulkner said President Trump broke the news about his chief of staff’s diagnosis on his Truth Social app.

“We want to get this in,” Faulkner said. “Trump announced his White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. He adds that her prognosis is excellent. And he says, Susan Wiles has decided to take on this challenge immediately as opposed to waiting.”

Faulkner continued: “She will be working virtually full-time while she undergoes treatment…”

Faulkner said Wiles’ cancer diagnosis was personal for her. “To me, this moment is particularly different. It’s personal. It’s personal for the nation too.”

Faulkner’s mother and aunt died following their battle with breast cancer.

Wiles sat next to Trump in the East Room of the White House during his meeting with the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which was renamed the Trump Kennedy Center.

She wore pink, the color that symbolizes breast cancer.

In a Truth Social post earlier, Trump praised Wiles’ professional work ethic.

Trump wrote, “Susie Wiles is an incredible Chief of Staff, a great person, and one of the strongest people I know. But, unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, and has decided to take on this challenge, IMMEDIATELY, as opposed to waiting.”
