Pras Michel (left), of The Fugees, is suing his groupmate Lauryn Hill in federal court for fraud and breach of contract over their canceled tour.

In a lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the Southern District of New York, Michel accused Hill of grossly mismanaging the 2023 tour. Michel’s lawsuit claims that Hill secretly siphoned off money from the tour guarantees. He accused Hill of breach of contract, accounting and refusal to permit an audit of the Fugees’ tour.

Hill abruptly canceled the tour in November 2023, citing “serious vocal strain.”

The lawsuit claims the 2023 Fugees tour should have been “a huge commercial success, since most of shows for the entire arena size tour were sold out in advance.” He said Hill controlled the tour budget “that was so bloated with unnecessary and, most likely fictitious, expenses, that it seemed designed to lose money.”

Michel says Hill turned down lucrative offers for the group to perform, including a $5 million offer for a gig at Coachella.

“Hill’s arrogance was again demonstrated when she unilaterally rejected a $5 Million offer [to play Coachella]. The reason was that her ego was bruised since the group No Doubt would be receiving top billing over The Fugees the night of their show,” the complaint read. “Hill never told Pras about the offer or that she had was rejected it. Pras only learned about it when it was too late, after Hill, in an astonishing display of hubris, asked Pras if he would agree to perform a few Fugees songs for free as the opening act for her son, ‘YG’ Marley, who was slated to perform at the same Coachella festival.”

Michel, who was once a billionaire who drive $350,000 cars, needed the tour money because he is still paying lawyers to keep him out of prison while he appeals a federal conviction.

A federal jury in Washington, D.C., convicted Michel for conspiracy, failing to register as an agent of China, and witness tampering in April 2023.

The lawsuit stated, Hill exploited Michel’s precarious situation in which he needed money for mounting legal fees. Michel was named as a co-defendant of “Wolf of Wall Street” financier Jho Low, who allegedly stole $4.5 billion from Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund.

Low remains on the run and is believed to be living somewhere in China, spending Malaysia’s stolen billions.

The U.S. government froze Michel’s bank accounts that once contained hundreds of millions of dollars. He is now broke.

In his appeal paperwork, Michel blamed his former lawyer for using AI to write his closing arguments during trial. Michel is seeking a new trial.

Event organizers convinced the photographers that the woman who stood before them was the American actress.

Critics say the 52-year-old actress has “lost her signature look”. But Gabrielle’s fans defended her.

Gabrielle recently appeared at George and Amal Clooney’s third annual The Albies event, alongside her husband, former NBA player Dwyane Wade on Thursday, Sept. 26, in New York City.

She wore a seafoam Versace one-shoulder gown, featuring cut-outs and a high thigh slit that showed off her long legs.

A social media user shouted out the largest class of Black male nurses to graduate from Southern University’s nursing school.

In a post on Instagram, the user shared a photo of 2 dozen young Black males dressed in blue nursing scrubs. The user captioned the image: “Shoutout to the largest class of Black Male Nurses in the history of Southern University.”

The post didn’t mention whether the graduates were RNs, LPNs or nurse practitioners.

X users congratulated the young professionals.

One user wrote: “Congratulations to these Kings! Much respect for them for choosing the field of Nursing. We really need them! #RepresentationMatter.”

Another person wrote: “Great to have more male nurses. The world knows we need more nurses. Congratulations to all of them! Wishing them all even more success in the future.”

One X user wrote: “who gives a f**k what colour they are? As long they help people in need thats all it matters.”

Hospitals in the U.S. are struggling to fill vacant nursing positions. Nursing shortages result in longer patient stays and higher mortality rates.

Male nurses are in huge demand at every clinical level. The number of male nurses has risen since the 1970s, according to Nursing World.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that the number of male RNs and LPNs has risen to approximately 12% for the overall nursing workforce.

Male nurses typically earn more money than female nurses with the same experience and degrees.

Massive Port Strike Could Cause Food & Gas Shortages Across the U.S.

45,000 dock workers at shipping ports from Maine to Texas went on strike at midnight. The strike could cause economic disaster in an economy that has already impacted the working poor.

The contract between ports and members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) expired at midnight. The union representing dock workers went on strike for the first time since 1977.

Local ILA president Boise Butler said shipping companies made billions during the pandemic by charging high prices. “Now we want them to pay back. They’re going to pay back,” Butler added.

Experts say to expect shortages of fruit, vegetables, fish, liquor, medicines, clothing, and even cars. The strike will also impact Amazon and other online shippers, including Shein and Temu.

Workers began picketing at ports in Texas and Philadelphia, shouting “No work without a fair contract.”

Dock workers went on strike with 40 days left until the 2024 presidential election.

If the union fails to reach an agreement, it could mean a lengthy strike that would shut down gas stations and grocery stores across the country.

Dozens of ports along the East and Gulf Coasts are affected. Arriving ships don’t have workers to unload consumer goods, including electronics, fruit, beer, wine, clothing, shoes, car parts, etc.

The good news is the shipping season is almost over. 70% of consumer goods for the holidays are already in stock at retail stores.

“Typically the peak shipping season runs from July through early November. They certainly moved up their timing this year, to start in late May or early June,” Jonathan Gold, vice president of supply chain and custom policy for the National Retail Federation, told CNN.

Gold can’t say for sure if all holiday items have already arrived at retail.

“There are limitations you can bring in on any point in time,” he said. “A one-day shutdown takes three to five days to recover from. The longer it goes, the worse it gets.”

Gold said an 11-day strike on the West Coast took six months before things returned to normal.

A prolonged strike will also affect dock workers and their friends and families.

Sean Combs has requested to be released on bond in a new court filing on Monday, Sept. 30.

In a 2-page filing in the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Combs, 54, asked an appeals judge to overturn a federal judge’s bond denial.

Combs was denied bond by 2 different judges after he was arrested on sex trafficking charges on Sept. 16.

In an indictment unsealed on Sept. 17 in Manhattan, Combs was accused of being a kingpin who threatened and coerced his victims to participate in drug-fueled “freak offs”.

He was also accused of kidnapping, racketeering conspiracy, arson, and transportation across state lines to engage in prostitution.

A judge rejected a proposal for a $50 million bond with 24/7 security and no access to a cell phone or Internet. The judge said Combs is a danger to the community.

The next day, a magistrate judge agreed and also denied bond for Combs.

Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said his client is no longer on suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

Combs is scheduled for a status conference hearing on October 9.

Judge Paige Whitaker, who is presiding over the Young Thug/YSL RICO trial, criticized the Fulton County prosecutor in open court.

Judge Whitaker is appalled by what she sees as a lack of preparation on behalf of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ assistant prosecutor Adriane Love.

The judge seemed frustrated by the prosecutor dragging the case out with endless motions and requests.

In a tense moment in court on Monday, Sept. 30, Judge Whitaker criticized Love for her lack of organization and preparedness. Whitaker stated, “It seems like you’re just throwing this trial together as you try it.”

Earlier in the day there was another tense exchange between the judge and the prosecutor when Whitaker denied motions and request for a mistrial.

Whitaker argued that the prosecutor has presented the case in a “haphazard way” that makes it difficult for the jurors to follow.

Young Thug is on trial for possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act.

The case is already the longest in Fulton County history.

Young Thug has been in jail since his indictment in May 2022. He was arrested along with 27 other alleged gang members, including rapper Gunna. Gunna and other defendants have taken plea deals in the case and were released from custody.

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to fashion faux pas. She has been dragged for wearing what looks like a full diaper for years.

Social media users mocked Kim, calling her “diaper butt” in posts that are too disrespectful to share on this family blog.

Kim, 43, and her son Saint West, 8, were seen leaving the gym and getting into her grey Tesla Cybertruck. Saint appeared to be upset as he left the gym.

The single mom wore a white tank top with Balenciaga sweat pants and black flip flops.

She carried Saint’s backpack and accessorized her outfit with an oversized butter yellow messenger bag from ERL, which retails for $1,850.

via Vogue — “Kardashian opted for a lowkey look (by her standards) for the children’s basketball game. Keeping with the sporty environment, she wore a white crewneck tee, knotted at the waist with the sleeves pushed up into a muscle tank silhouette, raw-hemmed Balenciaga sweatpants, and black flip flops. But, as she’s wont to do, Kardashian completed the look with her totally bananas accessory.

“This isn’t the first time a member of the Kardashian-West family has championed the Los Angeles label ERL. Designer Eli Russell Linnetz fashioned North West’s streetwear-inspired take on Simba for her performance of “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” at the Hollywood Bowl. It seems that, with her big Birdesque bag, Kim Kardashian is getting in on the latest trends on her own terms.”

Kim is also mom to daughters North West, 11, and Chicago, 6, and son Psalm West, 5.

Chicago and Psalm were carried by a surrogate.

Kim filed for divorce from Ye West in February 2021. The divorce was finalized in 2023. She began dating comedian Pete Davidson and later, Odell Beckham Jr.

Kim is currently a single mom who chooses not to dive back into the dating pool.

She said her four children have been trying to hook her up with professional ball players.

3 Philadelphia Men Who Stole 1,600 Pounds of Beef Are Being Held On $200K Cash Bond

Philadelphia officials have a zero tolerance policy for beef thefts.

Three men were arrested for stealing 1,600 pounds of beef from a stolen truck. The suspects are being held in jail on $200,000 cash bond each.

The arrests were announced Wednesday.

Douglas Mathis, 36, Tariq Duncan, 31, and Jamir Scott, 25, were spotted on Sept. 24 carrying 25 cases of beef from a truck parked along the 7300 block of Edmund Street, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

The arrests were part of the “Operation Beef Bandit” investigation into beef thefts in northeast Philadelphia.

The suspects were allegedly seen “breaking a lock on the tractor-trailer” and then taking the meat — valued at $7,000 — into their van, prosecutors said.

MEGA/WENN

The meat was headed to restaurants and grocery stores in the Philadelphia area.

Philadelphia officials said the same crew was responsible for a series of burglaries at service areas along the New Jersey Turnpike.

“This was tenacious investigative work that involved collaboration between law enforcement agencies to stop high-value thefts from parked tractor trailers,” Attorney General Michelle Henry said in a statement. “I commend the timely work of our Organized Crime Section who tracked this crew and, essentially, caught them in the act.”

Philadelphia police take beef thefts seriously because the price of groceries is skyrocketing in today’s economy.

The excessive cash bonds sends a message to other crews that stealing beef will not be tolerated.

Business owners are relieved that the thieves were caught after losing tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise over 2 months.

Earlier this month, New Jersey troopers arrested four men accused of being part of a criminal organization targeting trucks carrying high-value goods such as meat, alcohol, and seafood across the tri-state area.

Civil rights leaders argued that the cash bails were excessive and that beef thefts are given more weight than homicides in Philadelphia.

They note that murder suspects are sometimes given no cash bonds and released from jail.
