Chicago police suspect that missing CPS school teacher Linda Kathleen Brown may have taken her own life.

Her family said her blue Honda Civic was found parked near the pedestrian bridge to the lakefront at 35th Street and Lake Park Avenue early Thursday.

CBS News Chicago reports that police obtained video of Brown arriving at 35th and Lake Park in her car, getting out, walking over the pedestrian bridge to the lakefront, and not returning to her vehicle.

Her family viewed the video and confirmed it was Brown. She is alone in the footage, which was recorded around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Police and family members searched the lakefront on Thursday.

Brown, 53, vanished on her way to an acupuncture appointment in Wicker Park on Saturday, January 3.

Her distraught husband, Antwon Brown, told police he last saw his wife in bed next to him on Friday night. He said she was gone when he woke up on Saturday morning.

“She was in the bed when I went upstairs, everything was fine, don’t know when she got up,” he said.

“Next morning I woke up, it was like 8:35 a.m., and she was gone. No sign of her. I thought she went to acupuncture because she goes to acupuncture on Saturdays, and she don’t miss it unless it’s something important and she has to cancel,” he said.

Brown was scheduled to return to work Monday following a leave of absence for mental health treatment, he said.

As the start of school approached, her anxiety and panic attacks worsened, he said.

Brown teaches at Robert Healy Elementary School in Bridgeport. The School’s principal, Erin Kamradt, notified families of her disappearance.

“I am terrified,” Antwon told NBC5. “I am just shaking. I need my wife home.”

“I’m broke down, I don’t know what to do. I’ve done everything. I’m talking to people; we got people searching for her, I’m out of options. I don’t know what to do,” he told FOX Chicago.

Antwon and Linda Brown have been married 11 years. They lived quietly in a Bronzeville townhouse.

“She’s a wonderful person. Like I said, outgoing, smart, you know, funny.”

Linda Brown is described as 5-feet-7, weighing between 130 and 140 pounds, with brown eyes and hair and a light-skinned complexion.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Wentworth Area SVU detectives at 312-747-8380.

Three-time GRAMMY® Award–winning icon Jill Scott released her new single “Pressha,” the second offering from her highly anticipated studio album, To Whom This May Concern.

The album will be released independently through Jill’s Blues Babe Records label on February 13.

Co-produced by Scott alongside Vincent “VT” Tolan and Adam Blackstone, “Pressha” tackles the pressure of conforming to society’s standards. The song delivers a deeply personal message focused on emotional freedom, liberation and longing.

The song touches on beauty and societal standards through cinematic storytelling. Scott tells the experience of being pursued, desired, and the disappointment of not being chosen (“I wasn’t the aesthetic I guess”).

You chased me for a couple years
And a couple months
‘Til I said yes to lunch
Love moved swiftly
We graduated

And intensely showed us
No need to fake it
I wasn’t the aesthetic (I guess)
I guess I guess I get it

So much pressha
To appear just like them

The track continues Jill’s acclaimed collaboration with Adam Blackstone, marking their third release together.

The production features live instrumentation, lush harmonies, rich horns, and an improvisational spirit, with both Blackstone and Tolan contributing on bass.

“Pressha” follows the recent announcement of To Whom This May Concern, a 19-track album Jill describes as “an offering to all.”

The project brings together a wide range of collaborators, including Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack, and Too $hort, with production from Adam Blackstone, Om’Mas Keith, DJ Premier, Camper, Trombone Shorty, and others.

The album signals a powerful return for Jill Scott, blending soul, storytelling, and creative mastery.

U.S. Government Stops Minnesotans On Welfare from Sending Millions to Somalia

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced welfare recipients in Minnesota can no longer send millions of dollars in cash to Somalia.

The news comes as federal officials launched an investigation into TSA supervisors at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport ignoring reports of Somalians carrying at least $700 million in U.S. cash in their luggage.

Millions in cash was legally flown out of Minneapolis Airport to Somalia and other African countries.

Witnesses say TSA agents routinely flagged the money to their superiors, but the cash transfers were ignored under the previous administration.

The cash, in stacks of $1 million or more, were packed into luggage and shown to airport security officials by Somali migrants flying back to Somalia-area airports, according to reports.

The bags of cash began turning up at Minneapolis Airport after Tim Walz was elected governor of Minnesota in 2018.

“Minneapolis travelers alone had $342.37 million in their luggage in 2024 and $349.4 million in 2025, and the totals nationwide are likely to be much higher,” Just the News reported.

On Monday, Gov. Walz announced he is dropping out of the governor’s race and will not seek a historic third term in office in 2026.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday said his department will begin prosecuting those who stole billions in welfare and other social services scams in Minnesota.

TSA agents at Minneapolis Airport will stop people carrying millions of dollars in suitcases and the cash will be confiscated.

“Minnesota is ground zero for what may be the most egregious welfare scam in our nation’s history to date.” Bessent said on Thursday.

He said the massive fraud in Minnesota has cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, including money sent to Somalia through money transfer companies rather than formal banks.

“Under Governor Tim Walz, billions of dollars intended for families in need, housing for disabled seniors, and services for children were diverted to benefit fraudsters.

“I am here this week to signal the U.S. Treasury’s unwavering commitment to recovering stolen funds, prosecuting fraudulent criminals, preventing scandals like this from ever happening again, and investigating similar schemes state by state.”

Trump Bans Investment Companies from Buying Single-Family Homes

President Trump announced a ban on investment companies from buying single-family homes and forcing first-time home buyers into rental houses.

Shares of BlackRock and Blackstone fell Wednesday on the news that large institutional investors can no longer outbid families for single-family homes.

Institutional investors are described as corporations that own at least 1,000 single-family homes in three or more locations.

“For a very long time, buying and owning a home was considered the pinnacle of the American dream. But now … that American dream is increasingly out of reach for far too many people, especially young Americans,” the president wrote on his Truth Social app.

“It is for that reason, and much more, that I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it,” he added. “People live in homes, not corporations.”

In the first three months of 2024, large investors paid over $1 billion for single family homes in the Atlanta-area. First-time home buyers found it difficult to compete with corporate investors for homes.

The median listing for a home in Atlanta is now $410,000, nearly double the average home listing in 2020.

Wall Street investor Blackstone owns nearly a third of all single-family homes in the entire US.

But critics argue that 60% of all home sales went to mom and pop investors, not large corporations.

“Blaming institutional ownership for housing unaffordability is inaccurate and gets both the problem and the solution wrong,” Sean Dobson, chairman, chief executive officer and chief information officer of Amherst, told Newsweek.

“Our industry is not the cause of the housing crisis, it is part of the solution,” he added.

However, institutional investors bought over 70,000 homes and listed them for rent in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. This accounts for over 30% of rental property in Atlanta.

Update: Sports agent & attorney drop Washington QB Demond Williams following controversial transfer

Update: Demond Williams Jr‘s sports agent and attorney both parted ways with the ex-Washington quarterback following his controversial transfer.

The University of Washington threatened legal action when Williams entered the NCAA transfer portal just days after signing a $5 million NIL deal.

Sports agent Doug Hendrickson, of Wasserman Football, cut ties with Williams this week.

Hendrickson tweeted on Thursday, “I have made the decision to end my representation of Demond Williams Jr. effective immediately due to philosophical differences.” The post continued: “Demond is an incredible talent and we wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors.”

Williams signed an NIL (name, image, likeness) deal with Washington for nearly $5 million on January 2.

Williams reportedly made the decision to jump into the portal after LSU offered him $6 million.

Sources tell CBS Sports‘ Matt Zenitz that Williams initiated the portal process without consulting his agents.

According to reports, an attorney representing Williams also jumped ship following his controversial decision to transfer.

Williams’ new attorney, Darren Heitner, announced he was retained as his legal counsel.

“I have been retained as legal counsel for Demond Williams Jr. We have no public comment at this time. Updates will be provided as appropriate,” Heitner tweeted on Thursday.

The sophomore quarterback threw for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns in a breakout season with the Washington Huskies in 2025.

Washington officials say they will enforce the “legally binding” NIL contract that Demond signed just days ago. Officials plan to submit evidence of tampering by the other school.

Williams’ teammates found out about his decision to transfer while attending a celebration of life ceremony for Huskies women’s soccer player Mia Hamants, who died of kidney failure.

X user @coker_UDub wrote: “The f–ker did it while our whole team and staff was at a Celebration of Life for our soccer player.”

X user @Blutman27 wrote: “Word from Washington is players, staff all just found out about Demond Williams’ departure through Twitter/Instagram. A collective state of shock there [right now].”

A third person wrote: “Spineless move by Demond Williams if true. These portal stories make me want to put holes in my drywall with how broken the foundations are in college football.”

Williams defended his decision in his departure announcement, writing, “I have to do what is best for me and my future.”

Coaches have long criticized NIL deals for destroying college sports

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders slammed NIL deals in college, saying “It don’t make sense.”

During a podcast, Deion urged players to “chase the game, not the bag.”

“I’ve never chased money in my life. I’ve chased greatness. And guess what came with greatness? The money.”

Gabrielle Clark: “My daughter was socially transitioned at school”

A loving mother revealed teachers at a Las Vegas school attempted to “socially transition” her tomboy daughter.

In a lengthy social media post on January 7, 2026, Gabrielle Clark documented how she and her daughter fled Las Vegas after the child’s school tried to “transition” her.

“I wasn’t going to just let this cult take my baby.”

Clark said she decided to take her daughter to Texas after hearing a school administrator call her by a boy’s name.

“I frantically started planning our escape. I reached out to my cousins in Texas to secure a haven for us. We laid low in an undisclosed location for a couple weeks until everything was sorted. Then we jumped in a U-Haul and we left Las Vegas for good.”

Four years later, Clark’s daughter is a beautiful young woman who is thriving.

“I tell this story because parents need to understand that this is still happening. Some parents are still living in this nightmare,” Clark wrote.

“I was able to get my daughter out of that cult. And now I help others. If you need help, reach out to @AffirmReal, @notaproviderMD or myself for assistance. It’s a hard road and you don’t have to face it alone.”

Clark’s followers praised her for protecting her child.

X/Twitter user @wmallen2024 wrote: “I am so grateful for parents like you Gabrielle, I wish there were more like you. You did what you had to do to protect your child, good on ya.”

@AffirmReal wrote: “Gabs and I want other parents to reach this same goal. Together, we are helping other parents free their children from the trans cult.”

X/Twitter user @EtienneTheWolf wrote: Well done, momma. You are amazing and I’m so pleased you made it. My son was transitioned at school in 2019. It was the hardest (and most traumatic!) experience of my life. But he’s whole & happy now. I hope you are all doing great. Sending you hugs from Terf Island.”

A 4th person wrote: “Bless you & your daughter. Too many parents allow the mental manipulation of their children by the indoctrination camps called public schools with FREAKS they call teachers. #homeschooling.”

Gospel singer Yolanda Adams recently commented on homophobia in the church. She said LGBTQ+ people are God’s children. “And why would you want to ever hurt anything that God loves?”

“It is not my job ever to hurt anyone or debase anyone by who they are. God is not surprised by anyone he created. He knew who you would be before your mom and dad got together. So, why am I disrespecting what God respects and loves? Period.”

Atlanta Hawks Trade Trae Young to Wizards for McCollum and Kispert

The Atlanta Hawks traded 4-time NBA All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for former Hawks player CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Trae, the longtime face of the Hawks franchise, reportedly asked to be traded. He got his wish and the Hawks get back 13-year veteran CJ McCollom, according to USA Today.

Trae, 27, is seen leaving the court for the final time in the 4th quarter of last night’s 117-100 win over the Pelicans at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. He slapped hands with a few fans as he left for the locker room in street clothes.

He did not play and has missed 5 games with a quad injury.

Trae’s salary with the Hawks the 2025-26 season was approximately $46 million with a player option for 2027.

“I know you all have questions for me that right now I’m not at liberty to talk about or answer,” Hawks coach Quin Snyder said following Atlanta’s win over New Orleans on Wednesday.

Jalen Rose’s daughter, sports influencer Mariah Rose, said Trae requested to be traded to “the graveyard of the NBA.”

“For somebody to rather be in Washington playing for the Wizards than play for the Hawks is perplexing to me,” she said in a video after news of the trade broke on Wednesday.

She said even more perplexing is the Hawks trading away their All-Star for CJ McCollum. “That’s the new star of the Atlanta Hawks. They’re not serious!”

Stephen A. Smith says ICE agent who fatally shot woman in Minnesota was “completely justified”

Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith gave his honest take on the fatal shooting of a mother-of-three by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot in the face through the windshield of her SUV as she attempted to evade arrest after blocking the roadway in a protest against ICE officers.

Hundreds of mourners attended a vigil for Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday night. Conservatives accused Gov. Tim Walz of using the shooting to distract from the massive fraud in Minnesota.

In Wednesday’s episode of his “Straight Shooter” podcast, Smith said he believed the shooting was “completely justified.”

“I saw the video on numerous occasions and seeing what transpired from a lawful perspective, as it pertains to a law enforcement official, don’t expect him to be prosecuted. He was completely justified,” Smith said.

Smith also said the ICE agent’s excessive use of such force was unnecessary.

“From a humanitarian perspective, however, why did you have to do that? If you could move out the way, that means you could have shot the tires. That means you could have got a few feet away after you shot the tires and if you were unsuccessful in doing that you could have got her down the road. You didn’t have to do that.”

“She wasn’t driving down the road, coming at you 90 miles an hour, she was parked in the middle of the street. And rather than get out the car, she wrongfully tried to drive off. And wrongfully disregarded [a] law enforcement official – which is exactly what ICE is – and as a result, lost her life because of it.”

Smith said don’t expect the ICE officer to be prosecuted for his actions. He said prosecutors will see Good’s actions as “an act of terrorism” because she tried to run over an ICE officer.

In cell phone footage uploaded to X (Twitter), the victim engaged in a protest against ICE officers by blocking the street. Three ICE agents approached her SUV and one agent attempted to open her driver’s side door when she put the vehicle in reverse.

The tires spun on the ice as she turned to the wheels to the left and then to the right in an attempt to flee. She sideswiped an ICE officer who was standing in front of the SUV. He jumped out of the way of the 2-ton vehicle.

As he did so, he fired his service weapon through the windshield striking Good and killing her. The SUV continued down the road about 100 feet before crashing into the back of a parked car.

In a post on his Truth Social app on Wednesday, President Trump wrote that the victim “willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said at a press conference that the ICE officer “used his training to save his own life and that of his colleagues.” She said he was treated at a hospital for his injuries.

In a post on X (Twitter), a former defense attorney-turned civil liberties attorney said the shooting was unjustified.

“Even a real police officer would not have the right to shoot at her for trying to flee. This is well-established in the case law; deadly force may not be used simply to prevent someone from getting away,” wrote attorney Jenin Younes, Esq. “Given that the ICE officers had no law enforcement authority to begin with, AND the video footage shows she was trying to escape a perceived threat, not to kill anyone, the crime is all the more inexcusable.”

Younes continued:

“I’m praying for the victim’s family, especially her children. I’m also praying for all the conservatives who are so unprincipled and lost they’re excusing this terrible crime, and gloating over a death that will leave three young children motherless, because of the victim’s politics.”

Question: Do you believe the shooting was justified or unjustified?

The ex-girlfriend of Rashee Rice, wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, has accused him of domestic abuse. Dacoda Nichole Jones, explained details of her domestic abuse in an Instagram post on Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m so tired of keeping quiet. I’m so tired of protecting his image,” she wrote. “I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell.”

Dacoda shared a slideshow of photos showing the abuse she allegedly suffered at Rashee’s hands.

“He’s very controlling,” she continued. “There’s been times he’s came to my new home broken my door, there’s been times when he would put his hands on me while I was pregnant even had the audacity to lock me outside all night in ten degree weather because he got caught cheating.”

She continued: “He’s cut up all my shoes and clothes leaving me with nothing because he’s gotten caught up. And there’s multiple instances of cheating but besides all that I’m just tired of him not doing right by my boys.”

He’s now trying to remove me and my kids from our home.”

Dacoda accused Rashee of abandoning her and their 2 minor sons in Kansas without any money.

“I had to beg him to send money so that I could drive to Texas with my kids and all our stuff… He’s now trying to remove me and my kids from our home for no apparent reason.

“I’ve known this man for YEARS. He tries to put on this persona like he’s dad of the year. He does the bare minimum and I have to beg for that. I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that. It’s time to protect my peace and stand up for myself.”

The Kansas City Chiefs announced they are aware of the serious allegations against Rashee.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League. We have no further comment at this time,” the Chiefs told KCTV5.

Dacoda didn’t press charges against Rashee. She said they had an agreement “because of everything he’s put me through, and he still doesn’t follow it.”

She also shared photos of the property damage caused by Rashee.

Rashee, 25, was sentenced to 5 years of probation and 30 days in jail for his role in a multi-car crash on a Dallas highway in March 2024.

He pled guilty on July 17, 2025, to 2 third-degree felony charges for racing and causing bodily injury.

Rashee and 5 others walked away after the crash without exchanging insurance information.

The Super Bowl champion was suspended for the first 6 games of the 2025 season.

In September 2024, Rashee’s mom, Marsha Kearney, was accused of stealing a neighbor’s box containing Chappell Roan vinyl records.

She was easily identified by her Kansas City Chiefs jersey with the words “Momma-Rice” on the back. No charges were filed against Marsha.

Rashee played college football at Southern Methodist University. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Chiefs.

The blue Honda Civic belonging to missing Chicago school teacher Linda Kathleen Brown has been found, but the 53-year-old is still missing.

Linda vanished on her way to an appointment in Wicker Park on Saturday, January 3.

Her husband, Antwon Brown, said her car was found but he is not disclosing the location because police are still actively searching the area.

Antwon said he last saw Linda in bed next to him on Friday night, but she was gone when he woke up on Saturday morning.

“Everything was fine,” he said. “Next morning I woke up, it was like 8:35 a.m., and she was gone. No sign of her. I thought she went to acupuncture because she goes to acupuncture on Saturdays.”

“The hours that went past around 1:30, 2 p.m. I’m starting to wonder, like, ‘What’s going on?’ She hasn’t called me, because she normally would call me and tell me where she is going. She never did.”

Linda was last seen wearing a long black puffy coat and shiny UGG-style boots.

She teaches at Robert Healy Elementary School in Bridgeport.

He pleaded with the public to help find his wife, who may be in need of medical attention. She was scheduled to return to work Monday following a leave of absence.

Linda is described as 5 feet tall, weighing between 130 and 140 pounds.

Chicago police asked anyone with information to contact Area One Special Victims Unit detectives at 312-747-8380.
