A scorned orthodontist was charged with attempted murder after she stabbed her ex-fiancé's girlfriend in the neck then acted like a Good Samaritan.

Police say Dr. Alika Crew hid in the back of the victim's Jeep on the morning of July 28 in New Rochelle, New York.

The victim had spent the night with Crew's ex-fiancé, identified as Kurtz Howell. Crew and Howell lived in the same neighborhood.

When the victim started the car and drove off, Crew began stabbing her in the neck, the New York Post reported.

Crew then posed as a medic rendering aid to the 30-year-old victim when police arrived. The victim advised police that the woman rendering aid was in fact the person who stabbed her.

"It was also determined that the suspect's ex-fiancé is the current boyfriend of the victim," New Rochelle Capt. Cosmo Costa said.

The victim suffered a "deep puncture wound" on the left side of her neck from a razor blade, according to the Post. Her injuries required surgery.

The 41-year-old dentist is charged with felony attempted murder in the second degree.

Crew, who works out of dentist's office in Stamford, CT, is a resident of New Rochelle, NY. She is also affiliated with a dental practice in Jackson Heights, Queens, CBS2 reports.

The prominent dentist purchased a split-level townhouse in New Rochelle for $800,000 18 months ago, CBS2 reports.

Crew was arraigned in court on July 28. A judge set bail at $150,000. Her next court date is August 19.

A veteran Alabama police detective was taken into custody and charged with murder in a love triangle gone horribly wrong.

Officers responded to Germania Park around 11:51 p.m. Friday after the city's gunshot detection system, Shot Spotter, alerted them to shots fired.

They found 43-year-old Kanisha Nicole Fuller suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an unmarked patrol car.

She was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police say Fuller was in the unmarked patrol car with an unidentified male police detective. The police detective was off-duty. He was not injured.

Alfreda Fluker, 39, was taken into custody before 7 a.m. Saturday at her West Birmingham home. Fluker was charged with multiple crimes, including shooting into an occupied vehicle and capital murder.

Fluker, who was off-duty at the time of the shooting, had been a police detective with the Birmingham Police Department for 15 years. She was assigned to the Crime Reduction Team.

During a press conference Saturday morning, Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith said the shooting was "a love triangle gone wrong, something that happened very bad this morning."

Smith said he didn't know the exact relationship between the two officers and the slain woman but police sources said both women at one time or another had been in a relationship with the male officer.

"It's something that's been going on for a little while, but without our knowledge," Smith said.

Fluker is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

The suspect who shot and killed a Delta State University professor in his office committed suicide as law enforcement closed in on him.
