People grieve in different ways. Naya Rivera's sister Nickayla Rivera (left) responded to reports that she moved in with Ryan Dorsey, Naya's ex-husband and the father of her son, Josey.

Naya died tragically during a boating trip with her young son in July. But reports surfaced recently that her sister Nickayla moved in with Ryan to "help raise" Josey.

Ryan and Nickayla live together in a three-bedroom home -- prompting rampant speculation that Nickayla and Ryan were more than friends and that their relationship probably drove Naya to take her own life.

Nickayla responded to the reports in an Instagram post, asking for "compassion" and explaining that her priority is little Josey (pictured with Naya in February 2019).

"In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends & family," Nickayla wrote.

"Showing up for my nephew, even though I can't show up for myself. Im not concerned with the ways things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure. What matters most I've learned, is to show compassion, not to judge others and never take a moment for granted. I hope you all can do the same."

A friend told Entertainment Tonight that Nickayla has been helping to raise little Josey, and that moving in with Ryan made the most sense.

The source tells ET there is no romance between the couple.

"They simply share the same goal-to give Josey the best childhood possible and to raise him the best they can without Naya. They've also found comfort in one another because they understand what each other is dealing with and they know how exhausting it can be to be grieving in the public eye while trying to keep it together for Josey."

Glee stars Heather Morris and Harry Shum Jr. urged fans to pray for their former castmate Naya Rivera, after she went missing and is presumed drowned during a boating trip with her minor son on Wednesday.

Heather wrote on her Instagram Story: "We need all the prayers we can get to bring our Naya back home to us. We need your love and light."

Naya was reported missing after she rented a pontoon boat and went out on the Lake Piru reservoir with her four-year-old son Josey Dorsey around lunchtime Wednesday.

When the boat was overdue to return, lake staff went searching for it. They found Josey asleep on board the boat. Naya was nowhere in sight.

Josey told officers that his mom went for a swim with him but she never returned to the boat.

Authorities will renew their search and rescue mission "at first light" on Thursday morning after suspending the search around midnight.

Captain Eric Buschow, a spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, told reporters that Naya was "presumed drowned", explaining: "We're going on the belief that she did go in the water, and we've not been able to locate her. This may well be a case of drowning. This is a big reservoir, it's deep, these kinds of things happen."

Naya's fans pleaded with authorities not to suspend the search for the 33-year-old actress.

Josey's father is Naya's ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, whom she divorced in 2018 after four years of marriage. Naya was arrested in 2017 for assaulting Ryan.

According to reports, Josey told authorities that he and his mom went for a swim and she never returned to the boat. While Josey was wearing a life vest, Naya was not wearing one, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Ventura County Sheriff's Department deployed air and dive teams to "search for possible drowning victim", which they later confirmed was Naya after her wallet and identification were found on the boat.

The search for the missing actress was suspended at midnight with plans to continue the search and rescue operation "at first light" on Thursday, the Sheriff's Department tweeted.

"The missing person at Lake Piru has been identified as Naya Rivera, 33, of Los Angeles. SAR (search and rescue) operation will continue at first light."

Ventura County Sheriff's Department Capt. Eric Buschow added that Josey, who was initially mistaken for a girl because of his long hair, is in "good health", but "the family is going through a very traumatic time right now".

Police found Naya's wallet and identification on the boat. Her vehicle, a black Mercedes G Wagon, was found in the parking lot with her purse inside.
