Triller responded to a $28 million breach of contract lawsuit filed against them by music producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.

Swizz and Timbaland say Triller purchased their popular livestream battle show in 2021. But Triller allegedly stopped making payments in January 2022.

Beatz and Timbaland created the concept for Verzuz during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns in 2020.

Initially they claimed they weren't trying to make money off of the lip-syncing competition.

But just months later, they brokered a $70 million deal for the livestream series.

In a statement to TMZ on Wednesday, Triller said Swizz and Timbaland received $50 million in a cash deal for Verzuz.

"Swizz and Tim have personally been paid by Triller over $50 million in cash and stock to-date, and they stand to benefit even more over time. In addition, they have annual obligations, which if met, and no breach has occurred, entitles them to additional payments."

Triller execs claim Swizz and Timbaland failed to deliver Verzuz battles per their agreement in 2022.

It seems Swizz and Timbaland ran into difficulty booking artists after Verzuz was sold.

Basically, the artists did all the work, while Swizz and Timbaland reaped all the benefits.

Triller continued:

"Only one payment of $10 million is in question. We do not believe they have met the thresholds for that payment yet, which include, but are not limited to, delivery of a set number of VERZUZ events for 2022. We have been trying to resolve this amicably and this does not affect VERZUZ operations or Triller’s ownership of VERZUZ. If this does proceed in court, we look forward to a judgment that weighs all the facts."

Black content creators aren't the only ones suing video-streaming networking service Triller for lack of payment.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland filed a lawsuit against Triller seeking $28 million in non-payment for a Verzuz rap-battle deal.

The mega music producers say the TikTok rival Triller bought their popular livestream battle show in January 2021. But the $28 million agreed-upon payment was never made.

The duo is suing Triller for breach of contract, citing lack of payments in 2022.

Beatz and Timbaland came up with the concept for Verzuz as a way of passing the time during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns in 2020.

The lip-sync rap battles evolved into respectable music competition between B- and C-list bold name artists, such as Monica and Brandy Norwood.

Beatz and Timbaland say the music app made initial payments in 2021, but then defaulted in January 2022. Triller failed to make a large settlement payment in March of this year.

Triller is also being sued by hundreds of Black content creators who say they have been stiffed out of millions of dollars.

Triller offered as many as 300 Black content creators $14 million to leave TikTok. But many say they are in debt and facing eviction because Triller defaulted on payments.

Triller was poised to become TikTok's biggest competition.

Aaliyah was just 22 years old when she and seven others died in a plane crash in the Bahamas on August 25, 2001. The small plane crashed just after takeoff from Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, where she had filmed the music video for her single "Rock the Boat."

Marking the anniversary, Missy, 50, wrote on Twitter:

"Babygirl All these years your IMPACT is still felt & your INFLUENCE is seen EVERYWHERE! So many are still CAPTIVATED by your SOUND & STYLE! It's BEAUTIFUL to see a new generation become fans of your ART & love YOUR HEART. We Love you & May your spirit live on 4EVER."

Timbaland also paid tribute to Aaliyah on Wednesday, writing: "Me and @MissyElliott was and still!!!!!!!! Ahead Of our time. Rest easy baby girl."

One in a Million was made available to stream for the first time last Friday, Aug. 20, after Aaliyah's estate settled a longstanding dispute with her former label, Blackground Entertainment, which is run by her uncle, former R. Kelly manager Barry Hankerson.

Music exec Damon Dash - who dated Aaliyah from 2000 until her death the following year - reflected on her legacy during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"I was reflecting (that) there hasn't been one day since she's passed, not one in the 20 years, that I haven't either heard her name, heard her record, or seen a picture of her. Every single day she's present in my life and I feel lucky for that."
