The Say Something Nice Challenge
When I look at these pics, I don’t see a woman who wants an expensive wedding that her poor husband will still be paying off for years.
Instead, I see a woman who selflessly allowed her husband to plan their wedding and design the outfits for the grooms.
Now that’s love! Usually it’s the selfish bride who wants the fancy all frills wedding in the first place. Very rarely does a man care about planning weddings. But this wedding has a man’s touch all over it.
Hopefully you can resist the urge to find something negative to say about this couple who are so obviously in love.
As a matter of fact, I will give TWO PASSES to T.I.’s Private Birthday Party AND dinner for two to the member who makes the nicest comment in this thread!
To be eligible to receive the passes, you must live in Atlanta and be available to attend the party where you will personally hold court (and have your picture taken) with the King and his Queen.

WTF! I can understand having a low budget wedding and all, in fact, i think it’s ridiculous to spend a bunch of money on a ceremony, but why in the bejesus would she spray paint wifey on the back of the dress?! That’s just ghet-TO! They even spray painted the baby! And don’t tell me he couldn’t find something a little better to wear…Sorry Sandra, but this looks like a straight hoodtabulous mess!
My grade for this assignment = F! for failed miserably, i can’t find one nice thing to say, other than, they both might have a bit of a mental problem, so they get a pass?!
Now that’s now fair! I can catch a flight to the ATL that only takes a hour and half LOL! I’m happy for them!

Obviously he is promoting his air brushing business. Couples allow companies to sponsor their weddings all the time for promotion. His air-brushing evidentially paid for the wedding. Congrats!
If you look at the second pic where she is sitting down and you can barely see the tat on her arm, if she pushes her husband out of view of the camera that is a pretty pic. LOL.

This couple was very free with their creativity and expressing their love in a nontraditional way. The blue color is wonderful!! I wish I’d thought of this style when I got married!!

I guess the reception was at the club and instead of wine glasses everyone had 40 ounces and the kids had hug juices.
What a lovely couple, they look really happy and I like the urban style attire of the bridal party, very creative.

This is a beautiful couple and the wedding was incredible because they truly love each other. They have children and want to provide a stable home that’s why the got married in the first place. This is personal style at its best and I bet they would have gotten married in a cave because they love their family that much. The daughter is beautiful girl and looks happy in the picture. I don’t see the problem as long as they are happy. I am glad to see them getting married more families should do this it would lessen the single woman syndrome that plaques the black community. Congradulations to the happy couple and I want to see pictures of your 50th Wedding aniversary because you dont care about what anyone has to say about your wedding. I like that you added your personal style and did not follow what society states is a great wedding that will place you in debt for years. Many men use the cost as an excuse she got pass the excuse. You are sure to be married forever. Congratulations the bride was beautiful and the wedding looked like it was fun.

Staying true to yourself is the most important thing in life and these two lovebirds definitely stayed true to themselves. We’re so consumed with what other people will think, we ofter forget ourselves. I like the fact that this couple did what they felt comfortable doing, regardles of what anyone would think. At the end of the day, they love each other and their happy, not to mention they look good together. They’re truly a beautiful couple and I wish them the best.

Love sees beauty in all things, I respect and appreciate the selflessness in this wedding. I can only imagine how much pride, and respect she gave her husband just by agreeing with his choices for they’re wedding.
I guess love is the only tradition that marriage needs.

I don’t understand WHY as a society do we HATE? If they like it, then we should LOVE it. They appear to be HAPPY and in LOVE. It doesn’t matter how they did it, be happy that they did it. Unlike others who shack up and have babies. It’s a RECESSION people. Why go out and be UNCOMFORTABLE for a day at your expense for people to eat, drink and judge you anyway. Some view this as CHEAP and/or GHETTO, but the reality is it was tasteful in their eyes and that’s all that counts.

I see happiness; not circumstances. You never really know a person’s testimony; what a person goes through. And yet, we are quick to judge and criticize (myself included). Not that that will ever change because at the end of the day we are humans with flaws. But more and more, chalk it up to life’s dire straits these days, all I want to do is find happiness and peace. I overdose on negativity and tragedies everyday and every now and then, I need to detoxify.
Too many of us are Alive but we aren’t Living (I include myself in that) because life beats us down in one way or another. Life can be outright discouraging at times and it feels like it gets worse with every passing day. Finding true happiness and contentment either within yourself or others is a luxury; a hot commodity; not as tangible.
If they are happy, nothing else matters. They aren’t hurting anyone. This world is screwed up in so many ways that sometimes I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Case in point; the young lady that is fighting for her life because her boyfriend decided to shoot her in the head. It’s not easy trying to find happiness and love in this crazy, sometimes downright, cruel world. So, if you find it, hold on to it, appreciate it, treasure it and forget naysayers.

Thank you for sharing your wedding pictures with the Sandra Rose family. In the first two pictures, I love how your wedding coordinator blended the flowers with your husband’s ensemble. Your daughter looks as lovely as you do, and I know soon, she will find a husband as great as her dad. Also, it appears that you had a large wedding party. I cannot wait to see the honeymoon pictures, please share with us, when you get them developed.

It’s wierd but it’s nice. It was special. When they get look back on these photos they will LAUGH at how crazy they looked. If and when I get married I would love it if my husband took part in the planning. The little girl was super cute. Im not a fan of blue but it doesnt look that bad. When you get married you want to remember your day. Some guys just dont look good in a suit. If I were to go down that road I would have chosen to wear a white velour suit instead of the dress. AND IM BEING HONEST. They gave me some ideas.. Me in the pink velour with Wifey on my round booty, Hubby in black velour, DOGS, yes I said Dogs in matching Juicy Couture velour suits with Juicy on the booty-LMAO I don’t plan on having a huge wedding but I could see my self in the velour at the courthouse saying I do

Does the flower girl have missing fingers??? I envy the best man in one pic who had to double as his son. I too want to be the best man in my dad’s wedding, as he marries someone 5 years older than me.

Of course people are going to have negative comments about these pictures, and I’ll admit that my initial thought was “WTF!” but Sandra, I want to say thank you for making me stop for a second to sit down and think about what is really going in these pictures instead of hating. These two people obviously love one another and at the end of the day they are happy, and thats all that matters! Who are we to judge what a wedding day “should be”? Big, elaborate, “Platinum Weddings” like we see on WEtv and Oxygen doesn’t guarantee a happy life! Just ask LisaRaye, Juanita Bynum, Mashonda, etc. All it guarantees is a heck of a lot of money that you WON’T have to start your new life with. In actuality, these people are smart trend-setters, and maybe we should all take note. Instead of dishing out thousands of dollars for one lavish day, how about using that money to furnish your new house? To make sure that you and your children will be well taken care of? To start a new life with your hubby/wife debt free? These two got their family and friends together for what actually seems to be a good time and Im sure that they will look back on it with fond memories!

The Marriage is not about the wedding. Its about two people spending the rest of their lives together in peace and harmony. This wedding is a reflection of their love and they are not trying to fake the funck like rappers. The did this wedding within their means. So many people believe if they spend millions on the wedding the marraige will have foundation. NO, This couple is clearly showing that they are the foundation and the wedding is sharing the union with friends. I am sure she would have gone to city hall but they understand only 2 friends can attend. The love from this family and community is unsermountable (sp).
The prize is family & love for a greater future. It depicts that their finances will be balanced because they know how to economize. I have learned a great lesson today.. Thank You for sharing this with me

I don’t live in Atlanta, nor do I want the passes to meet with T.I., but I have something nice to say about the wedding. I was in my cousin’s wedding last year and having that experience taught me that the wedding day is all about the bride and groom and what they want. If this is what this couple wanted to do to make their day special, I’m all for it. They’re not supposed to do something traditional for the sake of tradition. They did something that they can look back on fondly. I can tell they had a fabulous time and that is all that matters. God bless their union.

wow sandra. these two are some TRULY creative people. in this day and time, where people are so caught up with all things materialistic, they stepped outside the box and found a way to artistically show their love for one another. and look at all of their friends and fam that came out to support them! not only were they are able to take part in the color scheme too, they were on hand to help this couple enjoy their day. i’m jealous. the best part that i liked is her bouquet was even color coordinated to his attire. please give them my love and blessings, and i am so sorry i was not there to witness the vows with my own two eyes. their love shines so bright…that i hope it shines forever.

I appreciate their ability to have the wedding of their choice regardless of other people’s opinion. I admire their devotion to one another. I think it is a very creative wedding idea. Well the little girl is adorable, and traditional they are representing with the blue. Back in the early 19th century wedding dresses use to be blue, red, purple, etc. But rarely white. For those that may not know why blue.
Blue calls for calmness, tranquility, truthfulness, nobleness, and faithfulness.

SO I say this in truth: Love is GOOD!! And it’s good to see this couple get married and do it right. Real talk. Many don’t get married these days and I’m glad that hope is still there for those who want it. No matter what anyone thinks if they like it, it created great memories, saved some money, and are in love then we need to just be happy for them and sit down. Yall know yall have done some silly stuff before that others may laugh at but you took it for it’s worth and called it joy. Leave them be. They look SOOOOOOOOO dang happy! That actually makes me smile.

It’s a shame how we lose sight of what a weeding is meant to be. It’s awful how we as a people were transplanted and forced to assimilate and when we decide to form our own way of expression and creativity its deemed ghetto. It’s beautiful to see a black man not “wifing up” but marrying his woman and in a way that boasts his love for not only her but his culture and who he is as a person unashamed for all to see at a time where everyone sits back and judges.
What really matters is the love factor and wanting to have a family. People get caught up in the things that don’t matter when it comes to weddings. If she had a $50,000 wedding, would that be an indication of their love for each other? That’s why so many married people miss the boat and fail miserably at it. The foundation and basis has to be love. It shouldn’t matter about rings, dressess, halls etc. What matters is the commitment to love and work together forever. No matter the expenses of a wedding, it still gets done the same as one that takes place in your basement.
When I look at those pictures, I see a couple who will withstand the trials and test of marriage because of their ability to compromise and take SELF out of it! That’s what really matters! It the same with these women and rings. A ring does not measure the love of a man. If many think it does, who are you trying to convince. I am married and my husband didn’t even need to give me a ring. I got one, a small one in comparison to many of my friends and I love it! The love that came along with it, you can’t put a price on!

I’m SORRY, but this ish is a hot mess. I can understand someone doing a wedding under budget but goddamn, did u have to spraypaint the bride and every1 elses dress 2? I wonder who idea was that? I wish my man would step to me with this type of idea for a wedding. I would call it off.

I agree with #67. I got these pics in my e-mail and was like “so what”. I mean really… Why do other people think it’s “wrong” to do your wedding your way ?
I find making fun of people quite immature.
I had a “traditional” wedding; it was nice/pretty/lovely whatever but not exactly what I wanted. (At that time I actually wanted to just go to the courthouse– because I was grieving plus I don’t have a supportive family– but my future husband wanted a wedding with all his family there so, of course, I didn’t want to take that from him just because my family was not/is not intact.) Anyway, I planned what the magazines and other people said a wedding should be. If I had to do it over (and we just may —one day) it would be different. Anyway, the only thing that really matters is that those two love one another. Me and my husband have been happily married for 7 years and counting, we have 2 precious children. WE are faithful and loving and honor our vows that’s what is important.
Out of all of the weddings I’ve witnessed this is a true representation of “You can have what ever you like” YEAAAAH. She looks likw she was treated so special & nice. (seriously)Who knows who had the idea to do it in that way but. They look estatic. Shoot wheres the cake? This shows it’s not about the glitter & glam it’s about Love.

I would like to say that this couple has had the wedding of their dreams. The bride is wearing dress she has always wanted. Not only have the beautiful couple had the wedding of the dreams. The colors of the wedding are coordinated very well together!! Just by viewing the photos you can tell they are very much in love and the bride and groom each are glowing for ear to ear on this very special day!!! You can tell that they are happy with one another. The couple had the wedding of there on personal style…Every one looks happy and like they had the time of their life!!
