Tyler Perry: ‘I Wanted You There’
Last weekend Tyler Perry was the victor, but now he is back to playing the victim again. You know how divas always want you to feel sorry for them even when they have it all?
Well, Tyler posted this note on his site today:
Hello there,I had to write you today. You know that I’m not a man that deals in negativity, but when I’m being attacked I have to let you know.
Something is going on right now that I have to tell you about, but not today. I’ll tell you about it in a couple of days.
Tyler has incurred the wrath of the Writer’s Guild of America for firing four of its members who had the audacity to ask for a raise.
In response, the WGA posted this letter on its website and members picketed outside Tyler’s star-studded Grand opening bash and at his home.
Anyway, Tyler titled his rant “I wanted you there,” which implies that he really wanted the members of his message board at his party. He claims they weren’t invited because there was only room for 300 people. Hmmm, a 200,000 square foot facility sitting on 30 acres can only hold 300 people?
The reality is, if you didn’t get an invite he didn’t want your broke ass there! I’m told a lot of Atlanta industry execs were not invited. In fact, most of the party goers flew in from out of town.
Tyler ain’t checking for you if you don’t make over $250,000 a year. That’s my humble opinion.

I really don’t know the deal with this story, I heard something about him firing his whole writing staff or something and hiring all white writers, I really didn’t even read into it. I know i will get the scoop from the family!
tp just wanted to drum up drama and/or ratings for his wack azz show in my opinion.
this is a publicity stunt up and down if i ever seen one.
i agree with auntie for once. drama king/queen is what he is being.

i wish auntie would catch the clue that mccain ain’t checkin’ for her either. if she catch on that tyler perry is not, why can’t she see “mccain’t remember how many house i’ve got” is NOT the business for a black lesbian woman from england who now lives in the us. with him in office NONE of us who do not fit in his mold (gay, of color, poor, unemployed, immigrant, illegal alien, etc…) will prosper. she has 4 of the things he is against going for her…yet she endorses him daily.

But I highly doubt that TP hired all White writers. That’s been his rise and downfall, wanting to stay true to his original audience and not really deviate form his roots. Which is noble and all, but it doesn’t always pay out.
TP could have EASILY sinked a deal with a major network or major motion picture studio. But in order to do that you got to comply with the demands of “The Man”. However, “The Man” is the one with “The Dough”!
So what does he do? He opened his OWN sh!t! And that should be commended and celebrated by ALL Black folks, because that’s a damn near impossible task!
Besides, I would have fired them mutha f*ckas too! Don’t they know we’re in a recession? You can’t be asking nobody for a raise in times like this!

that was actually the best part of the post. auntie shows she can be humble. and she has an opinion. we may not always agree with sandra but darn if a sista won’t tell you what is on her mind. that is why i love this blog so. all of the opinions. hers and ours.

I was kind of suprised to find out that Audrea and Aubrey had issues, I thought they were sooo tight, since they started in the beginning all together. I didn’t watch all the seasons but I def saw the beginning ones’ and paid attention to the last few episodes this season. I also think that Aubrey was cute before now …she looks a mess all the time, to much hair, to much make up …. they all channel Tranny sometime …. Shannon and D Woods, not so much but the REST … YES!
He is a fool … he made a point though, I think she confused him being laid back with what his actual position in he rlife is … she was rather disrespectful IMO .. but it could also be how they chose to show the convo.
You can’t just fire someone for asking for a raise - everyone knows that. Obviously there’s more to the story. The WGA like others, seem like they really want to tarnish Perry’s name.
I don’t support wrong-doing, and if he did something wrong, he should admit, then correct it. And if the claims of wrongdoing are true, it needs to be corrected in a court of law or someplace than a blogosphere or a messageboard.
i wonder where is the screen writers guild when we talk about their being no black writers in hollywood. where is their demand for studios to hire black writers ? where are they and their letters to studio executives and owners.
they dont want a black man having power or the ability to make movies and not beg the white man for money.. tyler makes movies for black families a segment that hollywood doesnt address nor make movies for and they are mad hes making huge money.
I agree with the concensus…it’s time for new writers. Since he has some juice, produce other projects. Tyler’s movies/scripts are pieced and held together by jokes and tasteless humor. sure the stories hit home, but that’s really it. His projects aren’t rivoting.
I’m the first to commend him on his accomplishments, but if he’s to go to the next level of whatever success is bringing him, he MUST change his formula, and bring new writers on board.
