Subject: Jam Master Jay Tribute
Today marks the sixth year anniversary of Jam Master Jay's Death so i decided to post a video tribute to JMJ that i made a few years ago while i was still with Hot 107.9. We had an Dr. Pepper sponsored event at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Atlanta where this tribute was played on the big screen and a plaque was presented to Hard Rock. I keep a copy of the plaque in my studio as well. Anyway, here it is....enjoy and try to hold back the tears
GAP.com stirred up a little controversy with its limited edition "VOTE TWICE" buttons. The buttons are available for purchase on the Gap website.
Obama supporters argue the buttons are a direct snub to Sen. Barack Obama and his affiliation with the controversial community organizing group ACORN.
ACORN has been charged with attempting to disrupt the election process by committing voter fraud antics such as registering voters multiple times and even registering the entire Dallas Cowboys football team.
LeBron James and his gramps Jay Z performed during the Last Chance for Change Concert For Obama at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH yesterday.
Li'l Wayne searching for his dignity and self-respect during the 2008 Power 105.1 Powerhouse Concert at IZOD Center on October 28, 2008 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Sadly he didn't find anything. I hate to belabor the point, but at what age do these "men" finally decide to pull their pants up? And to the real men in our community, do you ever stop to ask them to show some respect to the women around them by pulling their pants up? Or is that you men have no problems looking at another man's boxers? I've seen police officers order these fools to pull their pants up and they do it quickly. Don't we have any black men with any balls left in our community?
Singer Brandy performed during MTV's Total Request Live at the MTV Times Square Studios yesterday in New York City. We can't wait for her to drop that album. Sadly, producer Rodney Jerkins is working on the project which means it will be a hit or miss.
T.I. cast his vote yesterday at the Henry County polling place in McDonough, GA near his mansion. It was the first time T.I. has ever voted. We wonder why T.I. never felt it was his duty to vote before yesterday.
HOW U DOIN? NO, HOW YOU DOIN?
Chicago Bulls players Drew Gooden and Tyrus Thomas exchange knowing glances at the GUESS & GQ EVENT in Chicago yesterday.
TMZ.com has obtained documents that show in 2002 Jennifer Hudson's sister Julia Hudson, her brother Jason Hudson and her deceased nephew's father Gregory King were all arrested for selling crack cocaine out of the same house where Jason and his mother Darnell Donerson were found shot to death last week.
Neighbors told Newsradio780 that Jason regularly sat in a chair in front of the home all day, every day.
As I told you yesterday, police believe they have located the murder weapon. A woman called in a tip to police describing a white Suburban similar to the one found on Monday with Julian King's body inside.
She said the vehicle cut through a vacant lot near Kolin Avenue and she watched as the occupants tossed a weapon out a window. The witness said she saw two men in the vehicle driving throughout the neighborhood on Saturday.
William Balfour was detained by police as a person of interest on Friday and is now in state custody. Police believe there are at least two killers and are searching for another person of interest.
Some of you may be too young to remember the hit 1975 TV series "Welcome Back Kotter".
This is the show that launched the careers of John Travolta, who played the impossibly cute class clown Vinnie Barbarino, and Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs, who played sexy hs basketball star Freddie 'Boom Boom' Washington.
Of course none of these actors were young enough to be high school students. But nobody cared. The show was good, clean, wholesome fun.
Hilton-Jacobs, Robert Hegyes (Juan Epstein) and Ron Palillo (Arnold Horshack) attended the Chiller Theatre Expo at the Hilton Parsippany Hotel on Friday, October 24, 2008 in Parsippany, New Jersey.
While Sen. Barack Obama has pipe dreams about redistributing other people's wealth, his own aunt and uncle are destitute and living hand to mouth in Boston.
These are the same family members that Obama wrote about so fondly in his book Dreams From My Father. So it isn't like he's not aware of their situation.
Barack Obama has lived one version of the American Dream that has taken him to the steps of the White House. But a few miles from where the Democratic presidential candidate studied at Harvard, his Kenyan aunt and uncle, immigrants living in modest circumstances in Boston, have a contrasting American story.
Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.
A second relative believed to be the long-lost “Uncle Omar” described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a “sawed-off rifle” while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom flat for failing to pay $2,324.20 (£1,488) arrears, according to the Boston Housing Court.
The US press has repeatedly rehearsed Mr Obama’s extraordinary odyssey, but the other side of the family’s American experience has only been revealed in parts. Just across town from where Mr Obama made history as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, some of his closest blood relatives have confronted the harshness of immigrant life in America. TMZ.com reports that T.I. found a "loophole" in the voting law that allowed him to cast his vote as a convicted felon yesterday.
But T.I. would have already voted if he was a regular reader of SR.com! I pointed out here that even convicted felons can vote as long as they aren't on probation or on parole.
For a convicted felon, T.I. is pretty damn good at reading the fine print of the law -- 'cause the rapper found a way to VOTE after all!
T.I. -- who pleaded guilty to weapons charges last year -- found a loophole in the Georgia law book, which allows a convicted felon the right to vote IF they're not currently serving probation or a prison sentence.
Because T.I. isn't expected to be sentenced until next year, dude still can exercise his civic duty.
And before authorities could change their mind, T.I. hit a polling place in Atlanta to lock in his ballot ... cause like he says, in America -- you can have whatever you like.
According to CBS2 Chicago, a handgun has been found in a vacant lot near where the body of Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, was found in a white SUV:
Sources say police arrived at the scene at about 1 p.m. Wednesday after getting a tip that the white SUV was seen driving through the vacant lot over the weekend, and someone saw a gun being thrown from the vehicle.
"When I heard it on the news, I said Kolin -- that's where I saw the truck come and park," said Lawndale resident Amanda Archie.
CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports that Amanda Archie is one of several Lawndale neighbors who report seeing the SUV drive through the neighborhood throughout the weekend.
"I was sitting right there on the corner, they turned and went toward Roosevelt road and when I looked in my mirror a few minutes later, the truck was coming back," Archie said.
"We was just scared at first cause the first time it drove past, it stopped and looked at us, then went back around the second or third time," said Lawndale resident Destiny Jones.
Area residents told CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker that they saw the SUV in the area three or four days ago, but did not connect it to the case. They also said they saw two men inside the SUV. (Source)
