Rev. Al Weighs in On Obama/Chimp Cartoon Controversy

OK, now that I’ve read the Huffington Post’s explanation of this political cartoon, I no longer see it as racist imagery.

What the cartoonist was attempting to imply is that the stimulus bill is so laughable that a monkey could have written it.

And when you consider the fact that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are the true architects behind the bill, then you realize the cartoonist meant them, and not Obama.

UPDATE from HuffPo:

Rev. Al Sharpton has weighed in on the cartoon in a statement:

“The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that “Now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill.”

“Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?”

NY Post Compares Obama With Chimp

I may not care for Barack Obama, but this is very inappropriate for an editorial cartoon. I know that racist incidents will only increase with Obama in office, but Who owns the NY Post?

Is Solange An Even Bigger Attention Whore Than Her Sister Beyoncé?

Taken from Popsugar.com:

Solange Knowles has been released from hospital after collapsing. Following the Armani Store Opening in NYC last night, she took NyQuil cold medication on a flight and started to feel strange.

The singer has been posting updates on her twitter page, writing about the adverse affect the medication was having on her: “think im certified loosing it on nyquil. going to sleep before i start freestyling on the plane”.

After about three hours she added “Never taking nyquil again. I feel so weird.”

Three hours after that, Solange twittered a series of quick messages:

“Woaah….How’d I end up in the hospital?”

“Woke up to 8 random people over me, laid out on the floor in baggage claim!”

“Guess I passed out! Scary. Hooked up to IV now . Apparantly I’m super dehydrated.”

“My mom is the best. LOL. She’s like ain’t nothing wrong with this girl, she need some water and rest… Pull up the car! LOL”

“Blood pressure low”

Finally, one hour after that, at around midday GMT, Solange wrote: “I’m out! Yay!” and “they let me go….. Rest. Water. Rest. Water.” Let’s hope she gets some rest after her ordeal.

21 States Filing For Sovereignty

Did you know that 21 states have filed (or are considering filing) paperwork to declare sovereignty since Barack Obama took office?

Sovereignty simply means that each individual state seeks to retain the power to govern itself as laid out in the Constitution.

Peep this:

Although Fox News and CNN are not telling you about it, a growing number of states are declaring sovereignty. Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, California, and Georgia have all introduced bills and resolutions declaring sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment. Colorado, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Nevada, Maine, and Illinois are considering such measures.

Yes, those are mostly red states, including Georgia. But how interesting that Illinois and Hawaii are among them.

This excerpt from an article on Infowars explains why these states are taking such action:

“Obama’s plans for a federal handgun license, ‘hate crimes’ laws to regulate Christians’ speech about their own religious beliefs on homosexuality, President Obama’s youth corps for mandatory public service and the so-called ‘Fairness Doctrine’ to ‘balance’ talk radio have New Hampshire Lawmakers telling Obama to basically grow up and get some better ideas,” writes Jake Jones. “They say that if Obama’s plans are implemented, it would constitute a nullification of the Constitution for the United States.” [LINK]

Let’s face it, sometimes ‘Change’ isn’t always good.

Celebs Out & About: Kanye West

Kanye West attended the Narciso Rodriguez Fashion show last night with his current fag hag on his arm. I say she’s gone in less than 6 months. Unfortunately, that’s 6 months that we will be subjected to these two in the tabloids and on blogs.

We know that bisexual “model” Amber Rose jumped at the chance to ride Kanye’s gravy train, but what is he getting out of it?

Beyonce Set to Steal Taraji’s Shine At the Oscars

Beyonce is never one to let something like NO Academy Award nominations come between her and the spotlight.

Rumor has it that Beyonce will perform with host Hugh Jackman at the Oscars on Feb. 22nd. According to AccessHollywood.com, the two will perform a song-and-dance number together.

How nauseating.

Taraji P. Henson is a shoe-in to win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Brad Pitt’s adopted mom in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

But BeYaki plans to ruin Taraji’s big night by stealing her thunder just as she stole the spotlight from Jennifer Hudson, who refused to attend the Inauguration because she was there.

No wonder Michelle Obama hates Beyonce with a passion.

The Fashion Critic
gave Sol-Angel an ‘F’ for this Armani embroidered skirt set with that neon pink clutch. But I think she’s fierce! I think Solange likes to take bold, daring risks with her fashion. And people are noticing, which is the whole point, rght? Anyway, Sol-Angel looked stunning at the opening of the Armani 5th Avenue store in NYC last night. Her style game is perfection!
