Rick Ross Soars While Asher Roth Flops

According to Drew Reports, Miami rapper Rick Ross’ album “Deeper Than Rap” tops the sales charts with 152,873 units sold in the first week.

On the other hand, corny rapper Asher Roth didn’t fare so well despite the truck loads of cash and the massive resources poured into his marketing plan. His album, which I won’t bother to name, came in at #4 with only 67,449 units sold. The execs at his record label can’t be happy with that figure. Especially since, as Bol points out, underground rapper Jadakiss sold twice as many albums, without half the budget of Sloth, I mean Roth.

Jadakiss is on DefJAM how is he “underground”?? Aster Roth is a new rapper with NO RADIO play what so ever( i think he shouldve waited for a lil more buzz before releasing his album) why so much hate on Aster roth what he do he never came at rick ross or any one like he was gonna out sell someone…. i like dude im for new faces in hiphop…Rick has his beef with 50(noone likes 50 anymore) and a hit single with John Legend why wouldnt he be 1#

The “hate” comes from his tacky “nappy headed hoes” joke that he made last week.

I’ve seen his name & pics all over the blogs prior to that incident yet I’ve NEVER heard anything from him. Just not interested.

Jada Kiss did GREAT! w/o any promotion.. Rick Ross sold 152K but how much did Def Jam spend on his whole project I know that lil wayne is on there and he charges 75k and kanye west plus production from other producers, this is a LOST for the fake rapper who said he will sale a milli in one week… ha! ha! ha!

actually both cds are hot i have rick ross and asher roth. totally different artist but both very good albums. asher sold million downloads of his single i love college without major radio play i think he peaked at 11 on the singles charts and that high number is associated with the number of singles he was selling to make even that, that high. asher didnt put up high numbers but i think he will have pretty steady weeks of album sales. jadakiss and rick ross are not new artist they have established fan bases so its not hard to sale 150k one week its more to look at the second week and watch how much it decline

I don’t understand why Rick Ross lying about being a CO is this big deal. It’s sad he felt he had to lie about having a good good in the first place. He’s not the first and wont be the last rapper to lie about what he is or did. I will never understand this. Most, if not ALL rappers lie in their raps about what they did, have, shot, hit, time they did, why is his so major, because his was a CO? Ridiculous!

Point Blank Rick Ross makes nice music and Curtis doesn’t anymore. He went through this whole Imma kill your career rant and guess what, it didn’t wont. He couldn’t JaRule Rick Ross period. All of his CDs have sold about this same in first week sells (I think like 190k – 175k) so this one is a little below that. Good for him.

I like Asher Roth but seriously he can’t battle anyone. I have to check out his CD to see if I agree if it’s good. I like I Love College though.

Rick Ross album is garbage.. the first 6 are the only good ones and the rest is HORRIBLE!! Dude is such a fraud..living in some virtual reality. This is what hip hop has come too…if Big Daddy Kane or Kool G Rap were cards were pulled like this they would not be the legends they are…and the only reason he sold that any is because Def Jam is doing the usual BUY OUT/BUY BACK for there artist. His career is finish.. He has told so many lies… maybach tis and that..when u leasing everything. Dont pay child support..deny u know ur other baby momma who is a call girl.
