Missing Florida Girl’s Body Found in Georgia Landfill
Somer Renee Thompson’s body has been found in a Georgia landfill, according to Florida law enforcement officials.
The 7-year-old went missing on Monday (10/19) as she walked home from school about a mile from her Orange Park, Florida neighborhood. Thompson was arguing with another child when her older sister scolded her. Upset, Thompson walked ahead of the group and was never seen alive again.
Acting on a hunch, Florida investigators followed dump trucks heading for a Georgia landfill on the Florida/Georgia border about 48 miles from where Thompson was last seen.
Investigators found the girl’s partially covered body amid the trash and refuse in the landfill. A positive ID was made from the clothes she was wearing and a birthmark.
“I fear for our community until we bring this person in. This is a heinous crime that’s been committed,” said Sheriff Rick Beseler.
Beseler said breaking the news to the girl’s devastated mother was “the hardest phone call I’ve ever had to make in my life.”
“This has been so unreal for the neighborhood,” said Sharon Galloway, who lives across the street from the Thompsons. “I just hope they get that son of a gun and tie him up by his short hairs.”
Florida police are interviewing 70 registered sex offenders in the Orange Park area.

Matrice havent been found, its nothing new to report……im hoping she ran away with a boyfriend (girlfriend)? or something, they woulda found her body by now if she was killed

My prayers go out the family. I pray that the older sister doesn’t feel it’s her fault.
When I was around 11 y/o, my younger brother 9 y/o got hit by a car while he was with me. I was supposed to watch him. I turned my back for a moment and he ran across the street. He wasn’t seriously hurt but my mother blamed me a long time for not watching my brother more closely. A friend’s mother comforted me and made me realize it wasn’t my fault.
It’s so hard to protect your children. We can’t be on top of them 24/7.
Black males are getting the stiffest sentences for the Non-Violent crimes and YT child-molesters & murderers ALONG WITH YT-priests roam the streets with the Judicial Systems BLESSINGS… Therefore MORE-n-MORE YT-children will come up dead and/or missing due to the YT-Society’s LUST to imprison as many Black Males as humanly possible – JMO

I do hope that the sister heals from this. I hope they get the bastard that did this. Talk about taking advantage of a opportunity, these kids walked in a group and Somer ran ahead and this is the end result. This world is scary and I am afraid to have anymore kids.

ELove, I agree. Anyone that hurts a child, should be put under the jail, but sadly, they’re released back into society, usually with protection from the law.
I hope they catch whomever did this. We need stiffer penalties for these child molesters. They keep be healed…keep off the streets.
My heart goes out to her family and I hope her sis doesn’t feel guilty because it isn’t her fault.

I still walk my eleven year old to the corner store in Philly just because I am so damn scared of something like this can happen. I have learned that you must know who your neighbors are, I did a check and there are at least 10 sex offenders in my neighborhood. I bet you have not checked your neighborhood. You betta watch what you find out.This is serious and some offenders don’t even check in.
I believe I read that there were 90 registered sex offenders living within a 3 mile radius of the little girl’s home.
Unfortunately Jaycee and Elizabeth Smart are exceptions. Most perverts(sp) don’t kidnapped a child to raise as their own (in whatever sick way that might be).

When ever we get a new sex offender in my neighborhood a mailing goes out like the ones for missing children. There is a pic birthdate, address, height and what level sex offender they are. We can also register our emails/cell phones for new alerts of sex offenders in our area.
E-Love you highlight a great point. The criminal justice system is all out of wack, these state-by-state ways of governing are all wrong. The laws in several areas need to be changed. its starts small though, your local counsel people, voicing your concerns at city/town meetings. Organizing and working with different group to push ordinances and such … it can be done, but we as a COMMUNITY must care more and sadly we are more concerned with the amount of $ we have or the car that we own.
This story si sad as all abducted children stories are … I personally feel stricter laws shoudl be in place for molesters/rapist … its the same as murder in my book. You violate someone in that way and your killing a part of who they are.

I live down the stree from a school also. This is why we get the post cards with the new sex offenders, however being there is a school nearby the level of the sex offender makes it possible for them to live in my neighborhood. The law sucks sometimes because not all ppl are bright enough or take the time to learn the levels of being a registered sex offender and want to quickly label or beat them up. Many registered sex offenders are on the list for peeing in public.

There were two occasions when we received the notifications of a registered sex offender that moved into our neighborhood. Unfortunately, the first one was living there 4 months before we received the notice. The second offender (while we were at a different residence), was living in the area for like 2 months before we received the notice. Talk about an effin uproar!!!!!!!!
It is so not safe for children, as well as adults these days. So glad I have a male presence in the home, as well as big dogs, and other things……
Hello All. Lord have mercy Jesus. My prayers go out to this family, such a young, innocent thing. When my son was young, in order to get a good DC public school education, he had to take two trains and a bus to school, then walk up a long hill. He wasn’t 7 yrs old but he was still young, around 12 or so. We used to pray each morning that God would guide him and protect him, back and forth. This is what we need, we need to pray more. Our children needs that umbrella of prayer. And just thank Him, just thank Him each and every day. THANK YOU JESUS, THANK YOU JESUS, THANK YOU JESUS. For many reasons, I believe that He has his back to us right now, and that prayer will make a difference. How glorious it would be if all of us would send up a prayer each and everyday, day and night, to bless our children and soldiers everywhere, to keep them safe in Jesus name. Peace.
This is the first time I’m hearing about this baby missing.
