New Music: Tameka “Tiny” Cottle – My Private Place *Update*
UPDATE:
Last night I was blessed out by someone in Tiny’s camp who said the information contained in this blog was all wrong.
- She said this track is not new, it’s actually ten years old [well, it's new to us].
- Tiny has only been on the road with OMG Girls twice. The group is not over when T.I. comes home. OMG receives a lot of support from the other moms and family members.
- The Tiny and Toya Show did not begin filming two weeks ago. Filming started on the 2nd season last week.
- Tiny is not “giving it all up” when T.I. comes home in May 2010. He actually wants her to open her nail salon, and he’s very excited about it. The private, invite-only Grand Opening is on Dec. 9, 2009 — which I will be attending along with a few lucky readers!

New music from one of my favorite R&B singer/songwriters, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, formerly of Xscape. Tameka has kept herself very busy since her man, rapper T.I., was incarcerated last May.
She’s puttin’ in work in the studio writing songs for her girl group OMG and others. She’s also on the road with her group, which consists of her daughter Niq Niq, 13, Lil Wayne’s daughter Reginae, 10, and sisters Bahja, 12, and Lourdes, 10.
Two weeks ago, Tiny began filming the 2nd season of the popular Tiny and Toya Show on BET with her BFF Antonia Carter, who is Reginae’s mom. Friends have noticed the dramatic change in Tiny overall. “She has grown so much as a woman,” one close friend told me.
While Tip is supportive of Tiny from behind bars — even though his people keep a close eye on her, it’s almost a sure bet that he will shut everything down when he comes home – reportedly in May 2010.
There will no more OMG Girlz, no more road trips (unless she’s on the road with T.I.), no nail salon, and no more TV show as Tiny resumes her full-time job of being a mother to T.I.’s children.
I hear that Tiny won’t mind giving it all up since she’s a ride and n’ die chick to the end.
But her friends like what they see in Tiny now that she has grabbed hold of the reigns to take total control of her life and business affairs.
“She’s so beautiful! Isn’t she beautiful?,” gushed Tiny’s friend recently. “She’s grown into the woman she’s always wanted to be.”

Tiny could always sing, and I always loved her voice. TI needs to get over himself and allow her to work, especially if she can balance work and family. It’s harmless for her to just write songs for others. Let her make her own money!!!

I like the song, if I listened to it more it would probably grow on me a little more. Being younger, I don’t really remember the Xscape days or Tiny’s voice then, but she definitely can sing.
I really hope T.I. lets her do her thing, because every woman needs something to do outside of being a wife and mother.

Sorry, I got soo excited about this new post that I completely forgot to write what I was thinking. Sheesh.
From what I saw on the show, Tiny didn’t look happy to be home. If I remember correctly, she said she wanted to do something herself. For some women, being a stay at home wife is fine, but for others, you need an outlet. You want to have some sort of income coming in yourself. This girl was famous and had money before him. It had to be hard to give all that up to be a “wifey”(not wife) and Mom. I agree, she does look happy to be doing her own thing. I think it would be really selfish for Tip to come home and take all of that from her.
Listening to Tiny’s song made me realize how much I miss that voice. I hope she continues to prosper.
I hope Tiny continues once Clifford gets out..I hate that he is controlling.. Tiny should hate it too but like she said she does it to keep her house happy. I have heard other women say the same thing..Peace in the home.
i feel ya Ms_Psych. I would say Clifford Harris is a good man. Many females would loOve to be in her position. Like mstarie said b4 everyone gotta have a outlet..I just hope when he gets out he lets her keep hers without making her feel like shes done soemthing wrong.
It is unfortunate, but the truth. It may be nice to have a man who gives you what ever you want materialiatically, but what about a supportive man that respects your career and wants to see you do what you love? Tiny is looking beautiful and truly happy these days, it’s a shame she didn’t look this great when her man was free.

I have always love Xscape. Tinys voice is incredible. What is TI so afraid of? I wish we could hear more of her voice. Before the show aired I always wondered why she never collaberated with him. I heard about that too. Supposedly, there were bombs outside the Grand Hustle studios (no one was hurt). SMH @ the dumbass(es) responsible. Hope everything’s OK with Tip and his family.
I don’t think its a privilege to stay at home and not have anything going for you as a woman/mother when, like in Tiny’s case, it can be gone in the amount of time that it takes TI to say “It’s over”. Because without marriage papers, thats all it takes for that wonderful life as a stay at home mom to be over and not have anything to fall back on if she is not allowed (that should not even be in question in this day and age) to do anything for herself as far as earning money.
All this is still an issue when legally married as well, but not to the extent that it is when there is no legal protection for a stay at home mom. I hope for the sake of her and her childrens future (specifically her daughter since she is front row to this lesson on depending on a man for what you need including his permission) she continues to build on her financial security in case her “man” happens to catch another case that keeps him locked up for way longer than just 1 year or he just ups and leaves her.
The song is perfect for my love making CD. Too bad we won’t be hearing anything else from her. I think being a housewife is the idea situation when you have children. Only she is not a wife. She is giving up her life when this man won’t even commit to her. That’s my only problem with the situation. When he dumps her for another Hoops all she will get is child support and we know that man ain’t gettin off of much of that.

I did not like the dress the woman was wearing with the fan out bottom. If they would have left the fan off it still would have been long enough to not include it. The first woman who escorted the performers off stage had that same fan bottom dress. I just don’t like it.

Yep it was Paula and I did not like it but Paula looked beautiful. I did like that Janent opened the show and Paula was the first presenter. It remineded me to tell my kids (who are watching with me), that Paula taught Janet her dance moves.

I am so hoping that Dick Clark will not make a appearance this New Years Celebration. I was not comfortable last year and it did set a bad tone in our household. I love the man but I did not enjoy opening “the bubblie” right before the ball dropped.

These performances were way better than the MTV and BET awards, must be bigger budget. Damn near everyone that mattered performed or showed up, and most importantly it was LIVE, unlike the rest of these award shows. And what was up with that clip in the start of Rhi show? She’s been transformed now? I thought Ga Ga was going to set the box she was in on fire with herself in it. And that’s the whole hype surrounding Adam whatever his last name is? Just shock value.

from the sound of the reviews, the award show was a big ole mess. whitney sounded terrible, so i switched the channel.
i get the impression the entire music industry (artists) is/are confused and dont know what to do to sell records any more. the time when artists sold millions of records is gone and will never see the light of day again. there’s way too much technology and internet so people dont have to buy cd’s any longer…and they dont, not like that we dont. the public has gone from ‘i cant wait to buy it’ to ‘somebody download it for me.’
Since I knew that Sandra would not to an AMA post for us to watch together on, I hung out with my FB homies. I see that over here as well as there no noticed that JLo fell during that silly performance except me and Anna. Of course the video of the fall is already all over the net.
I dozed off and missed Mary J. and RiRi’s performances. It might be time for Janet to take the dancing down a level or three. I hate to see her struggling to dance when she is not even singing.
I was totally floored by Miss Whit. I’m so proud of her.

People are still selling millions of records. They may not be doing it in a week anymore, but I can run off a list of at least 20 artists who have done it in the last year, including Taylor Swift who people seem to be sleeping on because they are unfamiliar with her music. What is not selling is R&B and rap that fail to cross over. Black folk are no longer supporting our artists. We rather enable the bootleg man to stay unemployed.
There is also the Brian Michael Cox/Polow factor. People working with producers who suck because they lucked up on a hit or two with a fake azz beat they didn’t even come up with themselves. Producers used to be musicians. Now many of them are computer programmers. Usher has flopped twice in a row because he is working with these people. He used to sell millions and I used to be a huge fan who stanned for him, but until he realizes that Cox doesn’t fit his sound he’s done and it’s our loss.
I like the song, and glad to see her back at her craft. I am ready to hear some real divas of R&B again( Monica, Brandy,etc.)

Furthermore, I am very disappointed with R&B in particular. I am sick of hearing old grown men(Jamie Foxx) singing about humping women on the wall like they are 20 or getting oral sex like it was discovered by scientist last week. Where is my grown and sexy folks and where the heck is real musicianship?
That is why I primarily listen to Jazz or old school R&B now.
