BeBe Winans Cleared of Domestic Violence Charges

Gospel recording star and BET ‘Sunday Best’ judge BeBe Winans has been exonerated of charges stemming from an alleged altercation with his ex-wife Debra Winans.
Judge Gloria Dumas of the General Sessions Court for Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County signed an order on Friday, December 4, 2009, dismissing all charges with prejudice. With this order, this domestic matter is over and cannot be reopened.
“This has been a trying year, beginning with the death of my father, ” BeBe Winans said in a statement shortly after being cleared of charges. “Even though this allegation has affected not just me, but also the entire Winans family, my children and certain aspects of my career, I chose to stay quiet because I knew the truth. To be exonerated of all charges shows the power of trusting in God, and is a wonderful Christmas gift for me and my children.”

Just because you were cleared does not mean it didn’t happen Bebe! Its neither here nor there for me because I am not checking for Winans anything at this point.
Same goes for people that deny allegations or people that cop a plea of sorts – there are three sides to every story. Yall already know.

Well I am glad to hear that the charges were dropped. I think he handled the whole situation well.
I JUST READ IT WAS “DISMISSED” BECAUSE HE SOUGHT HELP…NOT BECAUSE HE DIDNT DO IT…but this will help him save face with Oprah I believe he pushed his wife in front of his kids..

Why is it that a lot of these women victims of domestic violence never have any male family/friends to come to their aid…. as in beat the living daylights out of the abuser??
Why is it that many people condemn music artists for DV but actors and athletes still get a pass to do what they do ? (i think everyone should get fair treatment)

I didnt see anything in this article saying he was cleared cause he sought help. But interesting it was over custody issues… Not saying its the case but maybe she made it up to keep the kids from him… Ive seen it done…

That day, he was trying to get his kids, but his ex-wife was mad because he didn’t want to talk to her about their situation. He just wanted to take the kids and go. She tried to break bad on him and he shoved her away from him. She fell to the ground and that was the extent of it. Please stop acting like he Ike Turnered her.

@Katt thanks guess he is making his rounds 2morrow to start clearing his name. I wish him well I reserved my .02 on Pleasure P until I had read or heard some real deal facts those charges were serious and not to be taken lightly.

he agreed to go to Domestic Abuse Counseling as part of a plea deal to avoid jail time. So far he has only went to ONE counseling session. I already read about this story this morning. He took that deal from the prosecuters and the judge agreed so as long as he attends the classes.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Nashville judge has dismissed a misdemeanor domestic violence charge against gospel singer BeBe Winans after determining that he had seen a counselor as required by prosecutors.
The 47-year-old Winans had been accused of pushing his ex-wife to the ground last Feb. 13 during an argument about their children.
General Sessions Judge Gloria Dumas dismissed the charge Friday after the counselor reported Winans did not need treatment.

Debra Winans dropped the assault charges because BeBe Winans withdrew his petition for custody of their children. It is called leverage.
