@ Daisy, no comment on the cover but I was reading somewhere her CD is certified Gold in three countries and sold over 450,000 copies in the U.S. over a two week period and that’s with her album leaking weeks early…

I am actually looking forward to my 40′s. Something about women that I know in that decade of their lives is so powerful and confident that I can’t wait for that time in my life.
I think me not enjoying my 30′s comes from being in my senior year in college and being around all these young girls that just make me feel old. My skin is changing and while I am (according to hubby) the bizness in my shape, I can definetley see changes that are not so easy to keep in check anymore. Girl enjoy your 20′s, I really miss them.

I stayed up last night watching Fuse channel Rihanna show where she was interviewed and all her videos were played. I am a new fan because of it. Before watching all those older videos I hadn’t realized she had done so much music before Umbrella. I have to say though that I liked her older style more than her current one but we all change as we go through stuff and evolve. I guess I am biased for another “Island Girl” (love her accent) Go RiRi

I completely feel where your coming from.. Cause I see these 18 & 19 year olds and they make me feel old.. However last night I was at McDonalds with my son and this older lady insisted he was my little brother.. She insisted I was only 17 years old and there was NO WAY I could have a 6 year old..

That’s what I always get when I’m with my 10 year old son. And that also what my mami gets when I go visit in PR and she introduces me to people who have never met me. She is very young looking so we really look like sisters when we are together.
Mami is a prime example of what I said about women in their 40′s, she is 49 and is the bizness in her attitude and outlook on life. She wasn’t that way when she was younger.
She looks good.

@ texan I was definitely a fan pre-edgy Rihanna and she actually danced back then and like you said everyone evolves as an artist, I’m still hoping that she’ll find a good balance between the old Rih and the new. That seems to be the opinion of alot of folks her liked her in the beginning and now not so much. Its because there is such a marked difference, almost like two different fan bases she is aiming to reach. But like I said up top, hopefully she will come full circle and blend both styles and we might actually end up with a Rihanna that appeals to a broader fan base.
Rhianna looks gorgeous. I’ll be glad when she gets out from under this dark cloud and get back to making hot albums.

@ lady & texan she’s definitely doing a little much but I think b4 she was definitely being molded into an image that she might not necessarily have wanted but I don’t really care to much for her image now either. I will say that as a young girl your go through these types of phases so hopefully as she gets older she’ll mature more, I def liked her tone musically better in her olden days though…

I’m sorry, I tried to just leave it at that, but why does no one else see that this child is in trouble? Why can’t anyone else see the dark road she is going down. I understand what you are saying, but isn’t that what we do everyday on this website. We “are” the industry in the sense that we are who their message and story is for. I just feel that instead of focusing on all the negative all the time, when I see someone being succesful in their goals, I like to atleast find something nice in that person.
Their are many artist that work my nerves sometimes, Rihanna being one of them, but I do find their ability to have fun working at what they love a good thing. This is the case we Beyonce, Madonna, Britney, Christina, etc. All this women are succesful in the career of their choice and have all gone through rough patches in their public life, much like we non-famous people do…they just do it in a public arena. Hope that made sense

@ texarican mamacita: I think that the difference between “us” and “them” is that we don’t have the type of pressure that they do. We don’t have people offering us all types of things for free. Realistically, we don’t live the same types of lives. Do you know anybody who has gone through the type of breakdown that Britney has? Lindsay? Nicole Ritchie? They are living in an entirely different world than us. Why do you think you hear so much about celebrities being hooked on drugs. I have friends that are in the industry(behind the scenes). I have met and hung out with a few of these people. IT is not what it seems. This is just an act for alot of these people. It is their job. They are selling an image. It’s a dirty world, that I would NEVER want to be apart of. I feel sorry for her. She was too young when she came in the business and she had no one to guide her. Mark my words, this is not going to end well. I hope she comes out of it. I don’t wish bad on anyone. I don’t wish for her demise, but some dark forces have a hold of her, and I
that she is strong enough to not be taken under. I don’t think she is a bad person, I just think that she is lost right now.

Actually I have seen people in the situation that you mentino above….but in our “normal” everyday situations they are not called breakdowns or sent to rehab for a couple of weeks for “recouperation”. We call these people criminals, druggies, mentally unstable, etc. Our jails, detention centers and surprise….our fellow work peers, schools and other everyday places. In my previous line of work I saw the worst of human kind on a daily basis and it would surprise many people how their friends, family and coworkers act behind close doors or away from normal settings.
I agree with most of your post especially the last part, I just don’t think they are really all that different from us, they are just not able to hide it because of their profesions. Normal everyday people put up pretty good acts themselves.
