Thanks to Interscope Records VP Shawn “Tubby” Holiday, left, for sending over these pics taken at his daughter Alaysia’s 5th Princess Birthday party held at the luxury Hilton Garden Inn at Centennial Park in Atlanta. Tubby poses with his daughter Alaysia and music mogul Devyne Stephens.
Invited guests included Christina Milian (posing with Navy, daughter of Nivea and The Dream). Christina is due to give birth to her and The Dream’s baby girl on Feb. 28th. Christina carries her baby well. Now we know how she was able to get on that plane to Atlanta in her 9th month. Does she look like she’s 9 months along to you?
The Dream couldn’t make the flight because he’s in a west coast studio working on his album. The happy dad said:
The baby will be here Sunday, no later than Sunday! The baby already has a car, I got a house just for the baby—Christina can’t get in the baby’s car. I’m giving all my attention that I usually give to Christina to the baby, all the flowers I usually give Christina, I’m giving them to the baby. It’s a girl, Violet will be her first name. I’m not telling you the middle name, you gon’ get me in trouble.”
Alaysia’s Princess birthday bash was planned and designed by Antonia “Toya” Carter’s planning firm, “The Network”. And here we thought she was just a reality TV personality and Lil Wayne’s baby mama. Tubby and Christina’s bellies are both the same size lol…cute kids, but like others said..anybody could have put that together.
Actually, event planning and it’s a lot more complicated than you think. I’ve done a scholarhsip banquet, law school graduation reception, baby showers, B-Day parties and recently, a 40th wedding anniversary dinner. Venue, invites, catering, entertainmet, not to mention the time and effort involved in it all.
Some people don’t have time to do it for themselves, so they hire people to do it for them.
LMAO @ the Dreams’ statement. In this economy he’s going to let a house & car sit for 16-18 yrs until the kid is old enough? By that time Violet won’t even want that old mess.
Neither Dream nor Nivea make my top 1000 best looking people list yet they teamed up and created that adorable little angel. What a cutie!

The candy display was done by peachtreats dot com. So all I want to know is what did Toya’s company do? There is a website for the candy display, it’s baby daddy’s company that he is transitioning out of and that is why it doesn’t look good cause the ex is being spiteful. If I was the chick I would get my $350 back cuz she could have done that sh!t herself.

Event planning is not easy…Alot of people just plan parties and call themselves event planners. For professional event planning you need the certification (CMP).

yes, event planning is a huge undertaking but for a skilled professional or person in general, all it takes is basic organizational skills and a little creativity if the budget is low. this ish did not take a team of “event” planners. i agree with free that these people are just trying to stay/become relevant on the d-list (wanna be a-list) pseudo celebrity list here in Atlanta.
I know little princess parties have the kids getting made up. They even do it at Disney World so that could be where the make up is coming from.
This reminds of when my coworker handed me $30 to plan a baby shower, that was an experience

that’s why i don’t do ish for family members and very few friends in the way of event planning. it’s too stressful trying to plan/pull off a “platinum” wedding on “bubble gum machine gold ring” budget.

I really am all for Black owned businesses, but it’s photos like these that answer the question of why some businesses don’t succeed. I agree with all that said it doesn’t look like something an event planner was needed for. That little table with the candy is really lacking. Why are the Little Princess’ photos only 4×6 rather than at LEAST 8×10, 11×13 or bigger? And Princess Tiana is cool, but her photos should NOT be at the forefront! Matter-of-fact why are Tiana’s photo’s even there? {Sigh} So many things wrong here. Anyway, I certainly hope someone in “The Network” gets certified and/or does some research and clues the other ladies in on what is needed to step up their event planning game in a MAJOR way!

OK, she had 10 ppl there and outsourced the candy buffet. So what was done that the mom couldn’t do. Reginae’s party was done with the same candy buffet company and it was really nice(there were 2 ppl working the candy display). So Toya used her networking skills and called the company. I’m not knocking her hustle but what did they do so special that they would warrant 10 ppl.
look at us…we can do it. chase go to law school, mirs start your shoe line, La and mskayla nursing…a great feeling just came over me. We can do it if we really want it. Yall are getting me pumped.
Has any of you ever seen Matilda? Those of you with children may have. Anywhoo if you’ve seen it remember when the principal made Brucie eat all of the cake because he stole a slice and Matilda was like, “Come on Brucie, you can do it” when he was about to give up and the entire school cheered him on which motivated him to finish. I know that was kinda long but that’s how I feel now.

@ mirsmommy, thanks but we haven’t really been trying per say for a little over 2 years. Maybe it’s just not in the cards for us. My daughter would love to be a big sister, she walks around with her dolls and acts like she’s big sister and my aunt and ‘nem and his parents are really wanting another grandchild so….
After reading the comments I had to go back up and take a closer look at the decorations. From what I see it doesn’t look Walmart but it also doesn’t look like they sprinkled the decorations around, you know a lil hear a lil there. I do know this that cake is expensive, maybe that’s where the budget went

I’m so scared of failing, it’s ridiculous. BIG UPS to those women that can juggle all those jobs. When my fiance’ wanted to go back to school, I was his biggest cheerleader and supported him 100% and now that he’s pushing me, I’m making excuses because honestly, I don’t want to fail in any area of my life. Is that normal or am I just being a big azz wimp???

@MKM You know what, it’s hard but you can make it work. I was a mommy, fiance, student, full time employee AND was planning my wedding. I went to school for most of the time I planned but the closer I got I stopped because it was too much FOR ME. I finished my spring semester and planned on starting back the fall after the wedding but never did. Now that’s just me. I used to be SO focused on not taking a break from school because it’s SO hard to return and I was doing so good and then let the wedding planning get the best of me.
I would be done now had I not stopped. It can be done, just focus girl. Also, I was on the Dean’s List EVERY semester which was a great showoff to my kids to let them know that just like they’re working hard for their grades, so am I.
Everyone that wants to go to school of start a business should. I am in my second year of Grad School now and I will be going to Law School after this. I have two children and I am a single parent. It can be done:)

I have all of mine natural and breastfed all and I would want all women that want that experience to have that feeling. I would love to donate my eggs. Awwww. That was/is a good idea. Did your babies strive for better grades because they saw you doing it??? My sister did that with my niece when she went back to school. Each semester, they would plan to get all good grades, reviews, and the Dean’s list.

Mirs – for my older daughter yes, I would say it had a positive impact on her. I think for my little knuckle head son…not so much. He and I stay into it because he has a mindframe of doing just enough to get by. I keep telling him that it will be his downfall in his adult life, I hope he eventually gets that. I will say that he has improved GREATLY this year though and we are in a much tougher school district so I’m proud of him but he still can do better.
Outside – that, Shrek and the Lion King are my all time favorite children’s movies. Matilda is a MUST SEE for every child. I don’t mind watching it over and over as an adult.

Intense Mocha, it’s too bad you have to stoop to name calling and all CAPSing to try to get your point across, but here I am taking the bait in hopes of having an mature adult exchange with you. This also includes anyone who sees these comments as *ahem* “hating”.
Anyone who owns a business should know that they will be critiqued on a regular basis. They should welcome constructive criticism. They should not hide behind “everyone is just hating on me” when critiqued. The success minded and driven will ask, “What is lacking?” “How can I make it better/more appealing?”
Not everything is “hating”. All people here are wondering is 1) Why doesn’t this event look professionally done? 2) Why it took 10 people when it looks like there were only 10 kids in attendance?
I am all for supporting local businesses, especially Black owned business, but the business world is not for the thin skinned. I hope Toya et company read these comments and feel compelled to reevaluate their way of doing business. If not then they’ll be moving on to another venture a lot sooner than they probably want because no one is going to pay very much for something that looks as simple as this event.

outside my younger daughter isn’t impressed with any Disney movies. She loves her Disney Channel and Nick tv though. My older kids (16 and 14) use to sit silent all the way through the movies when they were her age. Her ass is out of the room within 20 minutes trying to see what we’re wathing. She LOVES Matilda though. She’ll watch that one over and over.

i think it should depend on your age. if you are still in your twenties, i say go for it naturally. if you are in your thirties, there is more urgency.
my co-workers in their late 30s/early 40s had to have procedures so there is nothing wrong with that if you really want to conceive. your blessing can come in many different ways!

Starting is what’s scaring me because if I can’t handle it, after a certain amount of time has passed, I can’t get my money back from the school. My family comes first and if I see that is lacking somewhere then I will think that is my signal to quit school and make sure my family is good. Plus I haven’t figured out what to do with my dad yet. well when you’re sending professionally-taken pics of a professionally-planned party, i’m assuming you’re sending the most representative ones. if there were a hellified table in the room, i doubt he would skip over that one and send a pic of the one we see.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with what Toya did or is doing. She is starting out and maybe was nervous to do this event alone and recruit her good girlfriends to help out since this guy is an industry bigwig and this is for a child. I think the t-shirts were just to look uniform. I am glad to see her leave Lil Wayne’s shadow.
Christina looks adorable and I think she is probably having her baby here in Atlanta since this is where The Dream is from and his family is here.

chile first i said 27 (cause that’s when my mom had me), then 30 (beginning of new decade), then 35 (mid-point), then i got scared. time flies, that’s all i’mma say. the bad thing is all my friends’ kids are now nearly teens. they’re gearing up to travel and do stuff and i’m going to be toting a baby.
Lets try to resolve this. The table was not a representation on Toya’s company. That was a third party company that she hired because of the work that they did for her daughter’s party.

@Free, I had all my children really early and although I didn’t miss much thanks to great support system, I sometimes mope about a few things, mainly, I didn’t pursue the career I really wanted because I wanted to keep “business hours”…
When I’m feeling frustrated and wondering wth I was thinking, and my sons teacher has called for the 2nd time this week….when that feeling roars its head and knocks my spirit…

Lol @ajonesy about the Prince’s wig. I can just hear one of my little cousin’s asking if that’s his real hair with a twisted up “get outta here” look on her face. I can see one of my babies just knowing something’s not right and pulling it off his head. Lol
Oh and after seeing 600 pictures I feel a bit better about the event, but I STILL stand by what I said about how that candy “buffet” was set up. And I STILL don’t see where it took event planners, especially not all 10, to pull to off, BUT then again some things that come easily for some to do are not so facile for others which is why Toya and crew got hired in the first place.
