‘All Black People’ Asked To Leave Wal-Mart Store

Wal-Mart officials in South Jersey are reviewing a videotape to find out which employee used the public address system to announce, “Attention Wal-Mart customers: All black people leave the store now.”

Patricia Covington and Shelia Ellington were inside the store when it happened and told the Courier Post that customers and store employees looked stunned when they heard it.

“In 2010, I want to know why such statements are being made because it flies in the face of what we teach them [our kids] at home, and that’s tolerance for people,” said Ellington.

Ellington and other customers let store management and police know they were upset.
They asked the store to use the same announcement system to apologize to customers that night, which it did.
Wal-Mart management called the incident “unacceptable,” and said it’s working to make sure nothing like this happens at any other stores. Read More…

Sad thing is, too many will continue to patron that store. I would need to see that employee fired (evening news or article) and black balled in all Wally Worlddom (not transferred, suspended, etc).

*After they review the tape, can they let us know how many black people left?

    Why do people say sh!t liek “I don’t know why”, “I am shocked”, “I can’t believe”, etc…

We are living in a racist country, it never left and never will. Just because people refuse to believe it doesn’t make NOT valid. We will see many more Jena 6, racial profiling, etc. That’s life period.

I guess that maybe the problem that people just got to comfy and forget sometimes that it is still out here.

Nothing should shock anybody in this world today!

You know black folks are not going to leave. Remember in 2008 a Wallmart employee was trampled to death and the customers still wanted to get their after Thanksgiving /Christmas shopping done.

Some these dedicated their whole life trying to figure out some ish to do to us AND they have the resources. So why would nothing ever happen.

The dude with the bomb in his draws, people were so upset that it happened but I was like so what! How many people come in and out of our country yearly?? Like what billions and only 1 person was able to get through, I think the numbers are in our favor.

I have the Census sheet in my hand. The line reads: Black, African Am., or Negro.

It does not read AND Negro. If you are any one of those 3 things check that line. You don’t have to ID yourself as Negro. Both of parents’ birth certificates list them as Negro and believe me, they preferred Negro to the other N-word they could have been called.

This no different then when they added other as a race to appease mixed race folks

  90. 90
    SoulWithSass says:

Seriously? Are some of you REALLY tripping about it saying “negro” on the census form? Black/African-American/NEGRO/NEGROID/NIGGA schools lack funding and are at the bottom of the barrel for state & government expenditure; predominately Black/African-American/NEGRO/NEGROID/NIGGA neighborhoods are all but devoid of funding because most of their inhabitants attend those barren schools and can barely read and ya’ll are bickering about the fact that there is a damn “Negro” option on the census?!

Really? Because you TRULY have no other WORTHWHILE cause you could be causing a ruckus about? Your neighborhoods, schools, kids & such are being literally “skipped” over when its time for mandated funding & redevelopment and thats not a problem, but ohhh….put a damn “Negro” option on a census form & some of you are ready to march in protest snd burn the census form in effigy, now?

    *rolls eyes*

    Chile, please.

The Negro option is there because there are MANY older (usually people over 65) inhabitants in the United States who on the PREVIOUS census indicated that they preferred to be called “Negro” rather than Afr.- Amer. & Black. If you happen to know any senior “Negro” folks, then this would be common sense to you. But then again, it’s so rare for Black folks to see “negroes” after age 25, what with all of the senseless violence and killings of each other happening in those SAME uneducated, drug-infested, under-funded, dilapidated districts and all….

I swear, we sure know how to “pick our battles wisely,” don’t we? And just so you know, NO, you are not “sticking it to the man” by NOT filling out the census because of that option. You’re “sticking it” to your damn self becuase it’s YOU & YOUR district that will lose out on the funding!

I swear, it’s a shame that common sense is becoming less and less common every-damn-day. I’m done.

Hi everyone. It confuses me why some people don’t want to be called AA. We are Americans of African descent, Bottom line. BLACK or NEGRO is unacceptable in my eyes. For some reason EVERY other nationality is referred to by their nation NOT by colour.
I’m sure you’ve all had this discussion about the way the term black and white (in reference to race) came along. Ol’slavemaster called us ‘black’ because we are evil and ugly in their eyes and called themselves ‘white because they’re pure and angelic. We don’t colour code Chinese, Indian, Latino Middle Eastern folks so…

I tell people all the time, “if you aren’t going to vote to change it, then shut the hell up about it!” We are such a reactive people now whereas our ancestors were PROACTIVE & thats why THEY made strides forward and got things changed for us, and in the lax time since the 1960s, “WE” aint got sh*t done at all! 50 years later, we’re still in the same place, matter of fact, a much WORSE place, than our people were in the 60s when our ancestors passed the torch. But-oh wait- we got a “Black” president now so all that could be done has been accomplished.

The confusion comes because the average person has not clue to the differences of Race, Nationality, or Ethnicity.

From what I was taught, Black is the Race and African American the Ethinicity, with America being our nation of origin

For Chinese people, that is their Nationality. They are from China. Racially they are Asian. The old racist term for them was Yellow or Oriental.
Indian is a Nationality for people from India. Ethnically they can be Dravidian, Punjabi et al

There is a color code for Latinos. Latino/Hispanic is the Enthnicity. There are racially Black, White, and Mixed Latinos. Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican in the Nationnality.

Middle Eastern is the Ethnicity. Racially again, there are Black and White ones.

The non-black ones are classified as White in American but Asian in Europe

    @ mstruth,

i meant to include the emotional part of it as well. i used to be all over the place emotionally and after journaling, i narrowed it down to the week prior to my cycle and usually ending on the 1st or second day of my cycle. i’m talmbout crying spells, going off the deep end about petty stuff – totally out of my norm. i also used to retain a lot of fluid (bloating) to the point that i had to go up a size in pants during that time.

    @ Choco
i take a supplement called Metabolic Advantage and it is available at VitaminShoppe, Whole Foods and Sevananda (a local co-op and organic grocer here in Atlanta). You can also probably find it at GNC or somewhere similar in your area.

without writing a book, once i started taking this supplement, EVERYTHING started to balance out. the thyroid controls so many of our bodies functions that if it is even slightly underactive or overactive, it can cause a host of physical and emotional problems…which can be mis-diagnosed by doctors.

do your research and also read up on a product called Vitalzym.

    @ Choco, ms.truth and LaTechGrad02

i’ve been taking it and the Vitalzym now for about 6 months. it took a coupla months before i started noticing a difference. i also had a myomectomy for fibroids after my gyno had told me for years that i had ‘heavy’ periods. after having the surgery, i started researching alternative treatments and that’s how i found out about the Vitalzym, as well as a supplement called Fibrovan. the key ingredient in both products are protein enzymes, which our bodies produce less and less of as we get older. The nattokinase used in Fibrovan breaks down the fibroids and i noticed a huge difference in the heaviness/clotting of my cycles within the first coupla months.

sorry if i’m grossing anyone out but folks need to know that there are alternative and natural treatments for these conditions. doctors will have you on all kinds of prescription meds with side effects cuz they only treat SYMPTOMS, not the root causes of disease.

@Ebony…that’s so, so true. I can’t stress enough how necessary that is. Make a little noise for your kids. Don’t be afraid of being labeled loud and aggressive. I’m anything but, BUT I’LL BE THAT AN’DAY OF THE WEEK AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS FOR MINE.

I had to go in on one of my best girlfriends recently because she was letting the school “handle” her. No ma’am, they work for you! She was really surprised at the advice I was giving her (go up in there)…but I told her the next time you at that school take a look around and see that you and your kind (Black mamas) are the ONLY ONES NOT UP IN THERE!

You know, it has been my dream for some time to hold a traveling symposium of sorts for Black folks…men and women alike. I don’t mean uppity and you know who you are but regular old Black folks… like a “how to”. And I’m covering everything to making sure your school district is on the up and up to cooking collard greens (or whateva!) to caring for Black hair. My people just don’t know. And I’d like them to. And not just my ppl. I try not to regulate how other ppl spend their money but I do wish some of these long pocket Black folks would do something. Woe is me.

You know how Black ppl are! And don’t forget that different census measure different things…school systems getting less funding? Check NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND…and how many children it left behind…NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND made it because we had an asinine president and voters who were stupider than the decider!

The ppl not completing the census will be folks in the underprivileged communities and racist ppl who think they are getting back at the Pres. by not doing it. I work in the medical field, please believe these RICH ARSE folks hate Obama but they doing that damn census. It’s all about education.

The ad money comes from where the war money comes from: OUTTA THIN AS.S AIR!!!! 400 billion has been allocated for the data arising from the census. And remember this is the POPULATION and HOUSING CENSUS. The economic census would be different questions. It makes a difference folks. I wish you all could tour my city. Hello All. (I felt my computer screen and it’s hot from all the heat up in this camp.) My Momma, God rest her soul, used the word ‘colored’ all the time. She said that it embraces ALL PEOPLE OF COLOR except the white man. Most folks today are offended by this word, also by Negro. Me, I hate the word Negro. When we first integrated in 1970 in racist VA, we had an opening ceremony and the new, white principle welcomed the “Nigras” to the new school. I guess at 16, I was a militant then and still now, ’cause I started clearing my throat and all the blacks starting clearing their throats. Well, this white principle got so nervous and shaky, you best believe he pronounced Negro correctly from then on. One last thing. When does a black man become a ni@@er? When he leaves the room. And for what it’s worth, on the census fore, I’m too will scratch white out and put Honkie! What a hoot and thanks for the idea. Peaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I gladly reap all my Voting Rights and Civil Rights benefits…those are there because Black ppl needed them at one point (some say still do)…political questions for a political reason! Have you all forgotten that there was a time when race mattered?!?!

Some professor once said it way better than I can but simply put: bad things were done to colored folks in America…I hope no one disputes that…because of that bad stuff, the country had to make laws to make sure no American (no matter WHAT color) was hurt. Affirmative action, Civil Rights laws, etc, all that has to be tracked…the census asks questions about race to track. Maybe one day we won’t need to ask, but today is not that day!

I do teach my children that character counts but I don’t want them to be ignorant or disrespectful of another’s culture/experience because they have grown up privileged… privileged in the way of “White Privilege” not financially based. The kids today are privileged to a mindset that older folks aren’t privy to. When you’re privileged, you don’t have to think about your race.

The issue involving black people is that we don’t have a country, language, or culture to speak of. Latinos, Asians, Indians (from India), and Europeans each can point to a country, language, and culture to be proud of, yet we don’t have that priviledge. I grew up in the “I’m Black and I’m Proud” era. That era is long gone.

We talk about “privilege?” Blacks will never and have never had white priviledge. We choose to stay in the dark about such issues because it’s uncomfortable. We think like massah and act like him too. We’ve obviously been whitewashed – the Stolkholm Syndrome at work. Our “not seeing color” is the reason we are in the state we are today – complacent, naive, disrespected, etc. I’m not insinuating that we shouldn’t accept others, but let’s start with us first. We see color – we see our own color and judge each other accordingly. We are the only race of people that would allow such disrepect, as minor as it might seem to some people, and sit on our behinds saying, “Ah, this ain’t no big deal.” Oh really? So when does it become a big deal? We have so many issues from within yet no support. I really don’t have much hope for us.

Our country is ran by the people with the deep pockets and they run it for people just like them, they don’t give rats ass about what we need, if they need to allocate dollars. The will give it if they think it has some bigger purpose.

For example, we are sooo worried about economy or unemployemnt but yet there are so many things that can be done but won’t because its not in the scheme of the ones who got money already.

Somebody please explain to me, how is is that a brand new building that was build with condos has been completely empty for over a year, because nobody is buying. The company that owns it wants to turn it into an apartment complex but the city of Sandy Springs rejected it because it already has too many apts in the area. How dumb does that sound? So you rather have a completely empty buidling sitting on the mainstrip of Abernathy. If you could just make it into Apts. which in turn creates new jobs, brings new people in the area that will pay taxes, buy groceries and spend money, get power, phones, cable etc. But No these rich folks feel like it will hurt their image. Yes, thank God He made us all different. I believe He sees color that way He didn’t make us all different. He doesn’t discriminate. Unfortunately many here on this planet don’t see things the way He sees them; therefore they don’t act according to His ways.

What I believe we lack is the fact that we don’t have unity. We’ve accomplished so much, I agree, and other races are adopting our style and innovations everyday, yet they don’t acknowledge it as “ours.” Anyway, that’s a whole different story. Choco, white supremacy is still very prevelent (sp?) today. If we were all in control of our destiny, we wouldn’t be discriminated against constantly. There are powers at be that are at work. I’m not stating that we shouldn’t move forward and continue to live our lives, but reality is reality. I don’t need yts acceptance, but he/she doesn’t have a right to discriminate against us because of the color of our skin, and to act like this doesn’t exist, is being naive.
