We thought Sean Combs entirely revamped rapper Nicki Minaj’s cartoonish image? Or maybe this VIBE cover was shot before he signed her to his management team? This excerpt from VIBE‘s cover story gives a little insight into the diection the ex-Barbie is going in:
“I’m not abandoning the funny voices. I just did a crazy tribute to ODB’s ‘Shimmy Shimmy Ya,’” she says, perfectly impersonating the late Wu-Clansman. “But it’s coming up more with the album. I had a teacher in elementary who would stand on her table and whisper. We’d all turn around like, ‘What is this lunatic doing?’ But she would achieve what she wanted. She wanted us to stop talking and listen. I feel like I need to mellow it down so people can hear what I have to say.”

she’s growing on me….I was even starting to dig a some of her outbursts…*example – tribute to ODB was cute* I could do without the wide eyeball stares, and the robotics in the videos….but I must admit….Nikki seems to have something a little more valuable than I thought. A female rapper that can actually RAP now a days….is like a female R&B artist that can actually sing….its very rare now a days, I have to give her props for that alone. Obviously Wayne and Drake ain writing her rhymes….she is becoming a little more original everytime I hear her….you have to respect that, no matter how silly she may seem at times….I respect the fact that she at least has skill…unlike some female rappers who sell PLASTIC EVERYTIME THEY DROP and they still won’t fukking call it quits.

I actually like this cover and I’ve always thought Nicki was very pretty.
I’ not neccessarily a fan of her looking like this ER’DAY.. but her look on this cover is appropriate.
I’d just like to tell Nicki that there’s a time and a place for it all; a time to be CRUNK to the Maximum and a time to just chill and be you.

I’m not a huge fan…but I will say Nicki is smart. Most people today listen to and buy music off of the persons gimmick & she has realized that. Regardless of what people say, she gets attention/publicity.
