Sean Combs: “Do Better, Obama”

I was never a big Barack Obama fan from the beginning because I was more interested in making my life better than I was interested in making history. Barack Obama never quite dug a hole for himself by carefully choosing “buzz” words like “change” and people were looking so hard for change at the time that no one ever asked WHAT that change was and he never felt the need to explain it.

I DID, however, vote for Obama because I would rather see 10 Obama’s in the white house than ONE Sarah Palin – EVER!

At this point in the game, I feel more financially sound and can feel a resurgeance of “comfort” amongst middle class Americans than I did when Bush was in office, and since I won’t be joining the “Upper Class” no time soon (unless I hit a number) I’ll take it.

I DO have an issue with people who have absolutely NOTHING positive to say about Barack Obama, but not as much as I have a problem with the fact that certain groups of black people will NEVER have a negative critique about him. I’m in the middle, you eff up, I’m on it. You do a good job… I’m with you!

Tavis Smiley was right. We called every president out in the past 30 years, but now that he’s black, he can do NO wrong. NOTHING? Really? Al Sharpton and those guys made all the noise in the world when white presidents didn’t acknowledge the black agenda or issues that affect African Americans, and now that Obama is in the white house, suddenly, we have no issues.

We don’t think about the fact that since we aren’t asking for ANY of our needs to be addressed and we’re acting like life is wonderful for us, when the next white man, or woman gets in there, and we try to restart the, “what about us?” campaign, those same white people are going to say, “bite it, you didn’t have any issues when Obama was in office, where did they come from? You had these issues when Bush was in office, they disappeared when Obama took office, although nothing had changed, and now that he’s gone, they’re back again? Kill yourself!”

Surely, Obama could address ONE of our issues and stop trying to be in the “middle”. Acknowledge the fact that black folk came out in record numbers to get you into office. I mean, damn… wink at me and say “thanks” if you ain’t gonna say it out loud.

On the opposite end of that. I’ll be BACK in the booth in 2012 to vote for his a$$ again if Sarah Palin runs. Now SHE’s an idiot and I’ma need you to discuss that as much as you discuss Barack Obama’s narcissism, Sandra.

Get over it.

I’m sick of hearing, “Obama’s not a magician”… Well, guess what? Neither was Bush (1 or 2) neither was Clinton, neither was Reagan… but that didn’t stop THEM from being called out, did it?

When the next president takes office, I’ll be interested in finding out how many will continue to spew the “magic” defense in support of his or her policies… *crickets*

I expect the same $hit from Obama that I expected from Bush and everybody before him… a safe country to live in, jobs and policies that positively affect me and the community I live in…

What I find interesting as hell is that most of the people who support Obama and can’t find a damn thing WRONG with any of his policies, couldn’t honestly tell you the fundamental differences between the right and the left anyway.

Everybody’s a political pundant when the reality is that most didn’t give a $hit about politics before Obama took office to begin with – now they’re all professional political observers who can break down policy.

Oh, and @ Daisy – I don’t really believe Tavis was salty because Obama didn’t attend his event, I think (and if you REALLY followed Tavis, you would have surely heard this the 20th time he said it, if not the 1st) he was upset because he felt that Barack Obama refused to deal with him because he felt that he didn’t HAVE to – why not? Because like all the Kool – Aide drinkers, he knew he had that vote sewed up REGARDLESS, so there was (and clearly still isn’t) no need to attend a rally to address the needs of the black community.

Tavis went in on politicians as a whole, on all levels of government. he went in just as hard (if not harDER on Bush) he did the same thing with Clinton, etc. He called Hillary Clinton out for feeling like she didn’t need to address US because she mistakenly believed that she had our votes sewn up too.

What REASON would Tavis Smiley have to hate on a black president, considering the fact that he’s dedicated his life and career about black folk and making us a BETTER people?

Is he jealous? He’s not even a politician… it ain’t like he’s planning a run.
