Kanye West & Jay Z – Otis

Tonight, DJ Funkmaster Flex (InFlexWeTrust.com) premiered the latest single off the much-hyped Watch The Throne collabo featuring Hip Hop Kings, Kanye West and Jay Z, spitting on a Otis Redding “Try a Little Tenderness” sample.

“Otis” is quite simply a disappointment… We waited all these months for THIS ****?

    Very lazy just rapping over a verse of a Otis Redding song. Sounds like something they just did over the weekend hanging out not much thought put into it. And they wonder why people pirate it’s not worth a hard earned dollar because no work was put into it.

    I wish I was around when Sandra posted on the ” HAMAD ” story, but anyway I’ll post what ” THUS SAITH THE LORD ” since I really don’t have nothing to say about the industry puppets above.

    If you are reading this Mr. so-called HAMAD:

    ” Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.”

    PSALM 49:11 KJV

    AND….

    ” Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”

    PSALM 52:7 KJV

    Oh yeah, I do have one verse for the above industry puppets:

    ” Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? ”

    [ Spoken in Matthew 23:33 By Jesus Himself!! ] LoL!

    No…just…no Scott. I’m mad they thought that letting Otis carry these lame a$$ lyrics would suffice. Hmm….pity if this is really off of Watch the Throne. Is that the same throne Beyaki built? :coffee:

    Otis’ :ghost: is mad as shyt at this.

    As for the rest of us:

    The Lord said that the second coming will mirror the events in Noah’s time ( Matthew 24:37 )

    Now The Lord saved only Noah and his family, what makes so-called followers of Christ today think The Lord will not destroy as many people as He wills on the day of wrath???

    There are millions or billions of people on this earth, and if the Lord has to destroy every last one of us HE WILL.

    Don’t deceive yourself into thinking you can just live any kind of way and still make it to heaven. THAT”S A BLOODY LIE.

    ” For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

    5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

    6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

    7 And delivered JUST LOT, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

    8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

    2 PETER 2:4-8

    I think I might be one of the few people in the world and the only person I know not looking forward to this album dropping :shrugs: I love Ye but I haven’t bought anything from Jay since the one he released in 00-01.

    Anyway the song is alright (which is a pity since I love the original), it would’ve been better without all the screaming at the end and minus Jay Z’s part imo

    lol lazy lyrics casual rap listeners are funny. they rhyme scheme alone is crazy not to mention the sample. jay especially is the master of saying something that totally seems surface and it mens something completely different and how they tie in to each others verses some classic #hiphop and hearing flex premier the song was almost as good as the song he was funny as hell lol. all the top hiphop writers who attended the listening session was in consensus about this being one of the standout tracks and this coming from people who do criticize music for a living and not just the radio program them to what they suppose to hear.

    Redeemed777 says:

    NOTE:

    ” vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked ” 2 PETER 2:7

    LOT was angry with the filthy conversations of the wicked, and Lot and his daughters were saved. ( same thing with Redeemed777- I hate filthy conversation!!! )

    Note that the Lord calls the people who engage in filthy conversation as WICKED:

    Filthy conversation is:

    1. Cursing

    2. Sexual jargon talk

    3. Rap lyrics ( 99% of Rappers fall into this category )

    4. Ritual chantings

    5. Boasting ( I got this, and I got that. Rappers again fall into this category )

    6. Pretty much any kind of talk not supported in the Bible.

    ” The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”

    PROVERBS 8:13

  10. 10
    Redeemed777 says:

    And all those who support WICKEDNESS, if you think you will get in them gates,…..LoL….

    ” Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, AND DEPART FROM EVIL ”

    PROVERBS 3:7

  11. 11
    Redeemed777 says:

    You can think this is a game if you want to. I don’t water down the Word of The Lord to please nobody.

    ” And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious. ”

    EZEKIEL 2:7

    East I don’t agree with half of what the reviewers/critics say and don’t trust their opinions. They can all be bought and alot of them go by what’s popular or different vs what’s actually good. and I don’t listen to the radio so no programming here lol, I’m just picky with what I like and this just doesn’t do it. I won’t say the lyrics are lazy though, they both had some good verses but for as much as this has been hyped up I expected better. And even though I’m not a fan of Jay anymore he can do better lyrically

  13. 13
    H-Townmama says:

    @Redeemed
    I agree with most of what you write but you go about it in such a way that instead of bringing people closer it will drive them away. That does nothing for you nor the person you turned away. I know you have a zeal for the Most High, but you go about spreading His message in the wrong way and you too will be held accountable for your actions. No one is saying sugar coat things but you are using the wrong platform to spread your message. You can find a much more productive way I’m sure.

  14. 14

    I love God and skipped over everything Redeemer777 said….

    I didn’t like the track either. Not a very creative way to use the O.R. sample….didn’t make sense to intro w/the song, and a shopping list of other negative critiques. Their vocal energy sounds great, just wasn’t interested in what they had to say (for the most part).

    :clap: These were my thoughts exactly. It sounded like two narcissists in the booth trying to outdo each other over a single looped track. I’m disappointed in Kanye. I expected much better from him :no:

  17. 17
    Sandra Rose says:

    @ eastpointvet: lol, those music critics jock riders that you speak of tend to say whatever they think the labels want to hear – especially when they’re being wined and dined at private listening sessions – AND especially if they want to secure another invite to a future session! Please. :eyeroll: This track is garbage. Let’s see if it takes off at radio.

    East, I too disagree w/ you… I listen to lyrics in songs and well yes there are one or two good ones in this song. At this point these two should be mind flucking us way better than this. This song is like a pretty girl with dry snatch. I’ll be sitting on the dock of the bay waiting to tell Otis they flucked up his song… I am a fan of both men in this case it was a sing and a miss.

    It was aight and I can guarantee that mainstream hip hop fans are gonna love it…

    Earlier this year I surely wondered “what is jay z going to do?” It seems he has dropped an album every year since 96. He had a compilation last year and we see a duet this year.

    These are some talented brothers but this craft is waning. We had this powerful platform to change things but rappers abused it for selfish gains. Now most of those kats are back in the hood as if nothing ever happened with good stories to tell.

    For some reason it’s hard for me to get with Kanye’s voice since Drake super monotone broke out. If I hear 2 or 3 cuts that grabs me maybe I can get with this. This cut is el uncalente.

    Usually when something like this comes together there it is monumental. Right now it’s just ehh. About 2 or 3 years late with this one. Show and prove.
