Royce Reed had the Internet buzzing yesterday when she tweeted the above photo of her current man, Dezmon Briscoe, wide receiver for the Tampa Buccaneers, curled up in bed with her son, Braylon Howard.

I’m almost 30 now and my biological father is just trying to fall back into my life. True, they aren’t married but when my mom first met my father they weren’t married until I was about 5 or 6 and my dad had been taking care of me from day one. For what’s its worth, my daught is 7 and I haven’t slept in the bed with her since like she was around 1. I didn’t want a co-dependant child. I knew that one day I would get hitched and I didn’t want any problems. Some folks say I’m cold but I know 7 year olds who still pee the bed. Not my kid.

My BD doesn’t have a relationship with my daughter due to his choice to not be a parent. I respect his wishes but I also told him that will bite his in the ass later in life. She doesn’t have a negative picture of him but it will be different if he ever decides to parent. I am like the best BM ever. He told me at 4 months that he didn’t want to be a parent. I told him thanks for being honest. I am not a fan of folks who try to force themselves on people simply because they weren’t responsible and had a kid. When you are no longer with your child’s mother/father how can you possibly dictate what the other parent exposes your kid to??? You just can’t. My mother isn’t with my father so I understand it’s easier said than done but again, how could my biological father possibly think he could control what another man did or didn’t do with me? If he wanted that control then maybe he and mommy should have worked thier shyt out and stayed together. Royce can’t control what Dwight does on his end and at the end of the day Dwight can’t control what she does on her end.

I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world. I’ve been in this situation. My step dad who is my biological father in my heart loved me so deeply. He never molested me, never did wrong by me and ALWAYS took care of me. He loves me like my biological father, the man who created me, wouldn’t even understand. For those reasons I don’t see the wrongness in this. NOW, who knows how long this relationship will or won’t last but let’s say they get married and stay together for 20 years (as my parents have done). Then is it wrong? I would like to think that Royce see’s this man as being in her and her child’s life for the long haul and if that’s what it is then I don’t see how something as trivial as this is to be so wrong. I’m not in Royce’s head so who knows what she’s thinking and doing but that one picture is not enough for me to bash her. Putting it on Twitter is a bit much for me but who am I to judge it? Some of y’all got me feeling guilty for dating (not sleeping with) 5 guys within a year or two. We have no proof all of these men have even met her child.

Children have to be protected and if some adult is doing or saying something to them that doesn’t feel right or is incorrect; the caretaker’s in their lives had better have their back.
