A popular local television news anchor has been charged with DUI after she was involved in a wrong-way crash over the weekend.
Channel 2 Action News reports that longtime Fox 5 anchor Amanda Davis refused a breathalyzer test when the crash occurred early Sunday.
Davis, 55, was driving northbound in the southbound lane of Piedmont Avenue around 12:20 a.m. when she crashed head on into a southbound vehicle.
The other driver was taken to Grady hospital complaining of injuries. Both vehicles sustained front end damage.
The first responding officer confiscated Davis’ license and determined she was too impaired to drive. Davis was charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving. She is currently sitting in the Atlanta jail.
In a statement released to the media, Fox 5’s vice president of news wrote, “We are aware of the situation and we are currently investigating.”
